Got DD and DS twenty (!) items of clothing (all Next and Monsoon) for £2 from a jumble sale at the local church
Marvellous parents' evening for DD

Morning all

I am pleased to report we have enough in the bank to make an OP to take us into the 20s :T However, the cash is going to stay where it is for now as there are a couple of upcoming spends on my mind namely:

1. A night away next week, which has been booked for ages. All paid for already save for drinks. £30 budgeted for the drinks
2. DS last Pre- school bill has arrived, and as it's a 5 week month, it's a biggie. However, it's his last one and from next month he gets his 15 free hours so I really can't grumble.

I realise I had set myself an arbitrary deadline which is no good - this journey still does need to be lived, after all. We will leave March in the 20s, which will be :T, and well on track to pay of the remaining £5,500 of our 10% OP cap by the end of June as originally planned.

I did sell an eBay item overnight, so £20 in the pot.

Out of interest what do you do when you've reached the 10% OP cap? Do you just save the overpayments in a savings account ready for next year?

Thanks for popping in everyone. Yes - this last push to be out of the 30s has been tough, coupled with a more-expensive-than-normal month as detailed above. But it is fab to know we are there now on paper at least

Yes chelseablue, we just stash it in the First Direct everyday saver. Not the best rate out there by far, but I like seeing my current account and savings pot in one place, and it means moving money over as and when is a doddle. Savings rates is something we will be hot on once MF!
