Credio Problems

Not entirely sure if I have posts In the right place, but here goes. In February of this year I took out a small loan (250) with Credio. I paid the first payment of 86 in march. Credio never allocate this payment to my account despite repeated assurances that they would. They then allocated my second payment as if it were the first - ie Aprils payment was allocated to March. I complained and asked the company for a settlement figure but they now just ignore me. I've made phone calls (direct to answer phone), emailed and written. I made another payment and let the company know that the loan should be settled. They keep sending demands for payment. I've contacted the fca who wrote to Credio on my behalf and nothing. Now they have marked the account as unpaid on my credit file, which was just beginning to look slightly healthier. I'm at my wits end with these people. Is there anything else I can do?

Yes, you should of gone to the Financial Ombudsman Service who deal with complaints of a financial nature.

The FCA are the regulator, the FOS are the enforcement arm.

If its been 8 weeks or more since you complained, you can now take it to the FOS, just google there website, you can submit everything to them online.

That is your route for recourse in this matter.

  • Apologies it was the ombudsman I have complained to, I put the incorrect service above. I've also raised a dispute via my credit reoort. I've found the company information and there is only a director and no listed employees. I have a feeling they are not trading and everything is automated.

At what stage is your complaint presently ?

  • I'm at the follow up stage. I complained and the ombudsman sent a copy of my complaint to the company and advised me to complain again. I sent my original complaint to the company in March and complained to the ombudsman at the end of May. I have since followed up with the ombudsman and am waiting for their reply. In the meantime I have continued to try and contact Credio. I get automated replies from their email but that's it.

Its awkward when the company concerned wont respond, as usually the FOS needs to hear both sides of the story, however, not cooperating with the FOS can be costly for the business concerned.

If they have, as you suspect, gone bust, then this information will filter through, i guess you will just have to wait and see.
