Anyway to remove defaults, aps and late payments ?

Hi, I have a legacy debt to wonga which defaulted a few years ago.
I also have 5 missed payments to barclaycard and over 12 months ap prior to this when I was in between jobs.
I cannot get any form of credit at all, ami screwed or is there anything I can do ?
I am now paying the minimum to barclaycard and the account was saved from default. About 3k is outstanding.
Wonga 1k or so is still owed but the debt was never passed to collections and they have seemed to forgotten. If I paid this in full would they remove the default?
Other than the above. Have 20 or so credit agreements within the last 6 years, including a few settled payday loans, credit cards and other loans paid off with no missed payments.
Am I screwed now for another 4 years until these drop from my file or is there anything I can do?
I am now in a position to pay off all my debts over the next few months as in the near future I would like to get a mortgage but I feel with the above it's impossible so just looking for advice please.

  • The defaults and missed payments are a fair reflection of your credit history, so they are unlikely to remove them. If you are in a position to pay off the Wonga loan, then at least it will show as 'Satisfied' on the default, which is a slight improvement.

Pay the minimum plus £1 to Barclaycard. Paying just the minimum each month is noted on the report too, and just a slight overpayment looks better.

Avoid payday loans, as they demonstrate to potential lenders that you may have had trouble managung your money. Spend the next couple of years bringing your money under control, and start saving towards your deposit. The combination of good money management and savings will help your cause, but to be honest, you will need to wait until the worst of them drops off before a good mortgage lender will touch you.
