Prolific Academic - New Survey Alerts 23rd Dec 15 at 12:12 PM
Hi all, this is a thread dedicated to alerting everyone to new surveys appearing on the Prolific Academic site.

It's an interesting and well paid survey site, which also means they're popular and become fully subscribed very quickly!

I love the site, but find their own survey notifications a wee bit hit and miss and most of us don't have time to repeatedly check the site during the day on the off chance of finding available surveys. We won't all be eligible for the same surveys, but a quick 'heads up' when we do see one may make checking for surveys just a little bit more profitable and worthwhile for each other.

No rules, just subscribe and post when you see them to spread the joy!

Additionally, if you're planning on signing up to the site, please be sure to pop over to the referral thread to use someone else's link, before posting your own.

What is this life, if, sweet wordsmith, we have no time to take the pith?

Every stew starts with the first onion.

I took it upon myself to investigate a trifle; it had custard, jelly, soggy sponge things...

I didn't see any either, maybe the researcher wasn't paying attention when they were meant to put them in

I was just about to ask the same question, Chrisv. I have a nasty suspicion a page of the study may have failed to load; either that or she was trying it on. If she rejects our submissions, *we may have to dispute it, methinks. What think you?

    ETA: *And GreyAndGold.

(Yes, I have gone a bit strange. )

Only for those who did Part 1 of James Thom's PA Usage one a week ago:

    Available Places : 23/32
    Maximum Allowed Time : 10mins
    Avg. Completion Time : 3mins
    £1

ETA: Well, that one went wrong, too. Asked if I intended to complete part 2, then completed as soon as I said, "yes". Have contacted Mr. Thom. Will be well peeved if I don't get paid.

Just had a very pleasant message from Mr. Thom telling me they have all the data they require and will pay me.

There are still 18 places left so come along, please, y'all as I bet he won't pay any of us until all have responded.

I know it seemed odd, but that was actually what they were testing apparently. The survey length was only "3 mins" (actually about 1 min). More like that would be fine

Well, it weirded me out! If they want to test which of us are reliable, I guess it has fulfilled its purpose. I don't believe in taking money for nothing but, if that's what they wanted, so be it. Mr. Thom probably thinks I'm a muppet, but at least I'm an honest muppet!

It loaded for me eventually. It got stuck on 55% and then suddenly started to work.

That one took ages to load, and then halfway through, after seeing the images, it wouldn't progress. Returned it just before the time ran out

I had the same problem, took ages to load! It eventually did and I completed the study, however it did not automatically submit, I just got a screen saying "Great job! You're done! Thank you for your participation.". I tried to click on Finish on my account and then got timed out. I sent the researcher a message just in case they did get the results.

Glad I wasn't the only one that wouldn't load for. I messaged them and returned the submission - 15 minutes allowed and 11 minutes average completion time doesn't leave a lot of room for error!!

I also had an issue with that dropbox reading English sentences one for £7.50, got almost to the end (45 mins +) and got what seemed like the blue screen of death. Again, contacted them and heard nothing yet, but I'll be really annoyed if I don't get paid for that, it took ages!

Not a good day for studies today!
