"Seven-day switching, one month on: Q&A" article 5th Jan 17 at 6:12 PM
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/banking/2013/10/seven-day-switching-one-month-on-qa
Can I switch from a joint account to a sole account or vice versa?
Yes, but be aware it may take more than seven days. Seven-day switching works when switching like to like - joint accounts may make the process slightly more complicated due to additional ID requirements, permission from both parties to close or open accounts.
    by MSE/Sally Francis
AFAIK, it's impossible to switch a joint account to a sole one, at least using the "Current Account Switch Service"
    E.g.
    http://www.tsb.co.uk/current-accounts/switching-bank-account/7-day-switching-brochure.pdf
You can only switch to the same kind of account, or from a sole to a joint account. You can’t switch a joint account to a sole account,...
    http://www.nationwide.co.uk/products/current-accounts/our-current-accounts/switch
Please note: You won't be able to switch from a joint account to a sole account using the Current Account Switch Service
And, please, don't tell me that the article hasn't been updated since 2013. It was
never possible to switch a joint account to a sole one.

    Hi Grumbler,

We don't tend to update news stories from such a long time ago, but I've added in a question about switching joint accounts to our Best Bank Accounts guide.

    Thanks,
    MSE Rosie

Firstly, it's a correction not 'updating'. The information was incorrect from the very start.

Secondly, as I said many times, it's not just a 'news story'. Unfortunately, it keeps popping up as a top result of google searches and searching MSE. Either correct the 'story' or hide/delete it and stop misleading people that trust MSE. As simple as that.

What we fought for has been our undoing

ETA: BTW, the bit "Seven-day switching works when switching like to like" is incorrect too as "seven day switching" works fine when switching from a sole to a joint account.

Well, hope I am allowed to quote "MSE Forum Team". This may help other members to understand their standards of "rudeness and abuse":
    Dear grumbler,

You have received an infraction from the MSE Forum Team.

    Type: Red Card
    -------
We've removed another post of yours and have removed your posting privileges for two weeks.
    by MSE Forum Team
Indeed, the privileges were removed, but not "another post of" mine, that remains untouched above.
If you decide to return please read the Forum rules and post appropriately on what we believe is a fun and friendly Forum.

We do not accept rudeness or abuse towards our staff or volunteers at MSE.
If you feel an article is not correct then please report it correctly and help us keep the forums a friendly and helpful place.
Unfortunately, "Forum rules " don't help with understanding what exactly was "rude" or "abusive". Is it just me?

Also, I did have a "yellow card" long time ago. If it never expires, why on earth is it shown as "Expired" in my User CP?!
