Damage to Parked Car

Options
A lady damaged my rear bumper reversing out of a car park. The damage was slight with an estimate of £240 including vat.

Initially the lady drove off I suppose thinking no one had seen her, luckily a witness took her number.

I have text messages from the lady admitting liability. I had the repair done and sent her the bill, she now says she wants to go through her insurance company, but I do not want to risk my no claims for such a small amount.

Any advice, can I personally contact her insurance company direct? I presume this lady must have an excess of more than £240 so she will no doubt end up paying out of her own pocket anyway.

Is she trying to make this difficult?

You should let your insurance company know anyway but it shouldn't affect your no claims bonus, your insurance company is claiming from her insurance company

Go through her company, she should report it anyway.

However you will have to declare the accident next time round and your base premium may increase. Mine almost doubled following a no fault claim!

    Contact her insurance company directly.

If you don't know it and she will not tell you, go on askMID.com and check yourself. They have a 'one off search' which costs £4 which will give you the insurance company and policy number.
