From retail to product/marketing/operations

Options
I am working at one of the biggest luxury beauty brands in Oxford street as a business manager. This is the highest you can go in retail before going for an area manager position. I have been working for the same brand for 5 years now, started as a beauty adviser.
I have been promised a move to head quarter offices by my manager last year, had an interview for an assistant product manager position which would interest me, but never heard back from our own HR department.
I have a BSc degree (on international trade) and significant experience in beauty and health products.
I would like to step away from retail and focus more on product, marketing or operations positions, but anywhere I ask they need prior experience.
I have been looking for a while now through the normal means of jobseeking (LinkedIn, Reed etc) but nothing seems to materialize. I have checked my CV with various friends and have changed it to pretty good standards, so I have ruled this out.
Any suggestions on where I should be looking for or if I am doing something wrong?

If you're not getting interviews it's your CV/cover letter or method of applying, there isn't much else it can be. How closely are you following the job description when you rewrite the CV for each role? Are you firing off the same CV to anything relevant to those fields on websites or contacting people directly?

Also marketing/operations/product is an immense range of roles. I'd suggest asking your current employer if you can spend a day in those departments to narrow down what you actually want.

But as I said, if you're not getting interviews there isn't anything else it can be.

I may tell you based on information given how I might approach an employment dispute case, but you should always seek advice from your own Union representative. If you don't have one, get one!
