Halifax Let Me Down

for a Clarity card. Applied weeks ago and heard nothing back. Rang them last week and was told it would be here before I go on holiday on May 26th.
Still no card this week so rang them this morning only to be told there is an issue with their system and my application hasn't reached their IT department yet.
They have told me there is no chance of getting a card now before May 26th.

What options do i have here? I've got a Nationwide debit card but debit cards charge for ATM withdrawal (on top of the ATM's own charge). they also charge for converting sterling to dollars.

Ive got the spending money to load on a card but was hoping for a credit card so I could pay it off over 2 months after my holiday

Thanks

You could try Creation Everyday or Santander Zero.
    Which countries?

Any credit card that you would have to receive by post is unlikely to arrive before May 26th.

Have a look at this thread for some last minute ideas: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=5644083 (although bear in mind that Metro Bank charges for use outside Europe).
Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning

In that case, you may have to do without a travel oriented credit card. Try to make do with a prepaid card.
You should have a credit card for 'holds' and deposits, but ask the hotel etc to charge the final bill to the prepaid card(shown in post #6).

I'll just go with the pre paid card from Thompsons. Hotel is already paid for (through Thompsons)
    Thanks for your help :)

I wouldn't do that if I were you.

Less than US$1.26 to the £ as compared to the current rate of more than US$1.30 to the £. Plus an extra US$3 per ATM withdrawal.
