We used to to shop at Tesco. But then we saw the light.
  • Don't forget you need to add the standing charges for used and clean and also SWD ( surface water drainage)

You can email STW and ask for a copy of their charges or check out their web site for the info.

    Water standing charge £12.73
    Used water standing charge £5.98

Sorry I can't give you figures for surface water drainage.
Since I moved into this house I have no need to pay it :T

  • you are lucky.

I saw this thread and went onto wessex water and their charges are for water plus sewage:

standing charge pa £59 in total
    water=161.39 sewage=173.83 per cu m

    'Lucky' is relative!

South West Water charge £1.6785 for water and £2.8121 for sewerage so a total of £4.49 per cubic metre plus a £60 standing charge.

So twice the charge of Severn Trent - who aren't the cheapest in UK.
  • omg cardew that is one hell of a price. Why are some water cos so much more expensive

One of the reasons is that they put forward a 5 year plan to OFWAT that is agreed and that states how much profit they can make and what work must be done etc.
Some water companies then do the long plan and it can be year 1 :expensive, year 2 : reduced price and bring in Single occupier tariff, year 3 :expensive ...
So although one year it might be the highest it could have been the year before they were lower.

Also it depends on how much they have to do, some are doing a 10 year meter plan and that means they get to charge more for maybe 2 years whilst they are doing the work

So it can be any number of things
