The previous post was correct try to buy in October Howdens will do anything to get the deal at this time!.

We bought in october the price was far better and appliances will if your lucky be foc.

We had a Harworth oak kitchen it is asboulity fab! Being on a farm it gets alot of use but is well built ( i was very particular about having sturdy drawers! ).

Be careful on extras like other diy stores etc they will make money out of you for these!!

I recently had a Howdens kitchen fitted and can confirm that the quality and service is second to none. I do have one slight problem I was hoping someone could help with. The handle on the built in oven door is rather large and bulky and I was hoping to replace it with a more flush fitting one. Does anybody know who manufactures their appliances as there are no makers names shown.

We bought the cooker and fridge from Howdens with our kitchen, which is being fitted now. Both are made by Leisure, but there are no badges or branding on them. So could be the same one for yours? Their website is http://test-inovation.co.uk if that helps.

I have a Howden's oak kitchen and it has stood the knocks and pressures of 4 kids and a very busy household for 8 years. The only appliance I've replaced is the dishwasher, which gets hammered.
Son is now buying Howdens kitchen for his first house, he's just had the plan done by their specialist designer.I still have a trade account there and I'm convinced we won't get a better deal.
Any joiners out there in York, available before Xmas, who would like to give him a reasonable fitting price, to include tiling and electrics, (and no hassle), let me know.

I'm very reassured that most people think these are good kitchens as I'm looking at a brochure and am getting a quote from my builder. He's suggested that I look at the units in person, which I will do.

Can anyone advise on which are the sturdiest worktops please? I don't think I'd look after wood well enough so laminate/solid would be better.

    Thanks

Does anyone have the solid surface worktop that Howdens do? I've just had their designer round to measure up and give specification to my builder and I'm very tempted by this. We seem to be very heavy on worktops (ie teenagers here) so I need something as durable as possible.

I'm also considering the Calgary white gloss units. Any disadvantages with gloss apart from needing a few more wipes to keep them that way?

Bought a kitchen from Howdens, drawer brackets broke after 2weeks. I am just back from their Edinburgh depot where they shrugged their shoulders and said sorry didnt have any spare. I asked could they order replacements, they said no, they "just get what comes in and that's full units"! Pushing harder, they said I could just keep trying as they get damaged returns and might get some spares off them when they come in. I noticed door said enquiries at the front desk, returns "round the back". Anyone else had a problem? Anyone know where I can get spare fittings?

Over the last couple of days I have had kitchens playing each other off and lyeing about each other. I was looking at howdens and another kitchen company says they are inferior quality and come flat pack. This I learn its not true and the guy who rang me today from same company says well but they are just chinese rubbish. Needless to say I will not be useing them for their attitude.

Why cant people simply give me the information I need and realise that I will check out their claims good and bad.

In the running at the moment is Howdens and Magnet both based were I live. The other Kitchen guy also said that the inferior carcasses from Howdens would not bear the weight of granite. Is there any truth in this. This kitchen will have to last as I will not be doing another one here. Any one help.
    TIA
