Hi amaranthus
I have a similar amount to repay and am also snowballing with £500pm used to repay debts. I will follow your thread to try and keep me motivated!0 -

December summary
- Monthly repayment goal - £500. Actual repayment £431.31.
Better than I thought given Christmas. January is going to be tight, but that's nothing new for anyone! I got given some cash as a gift, and rather than spend it on the sales I'm going to put it into my bank account to bolster my bank account until January pay day.0 -
I know I'm doing pretty well paying off my debt, but I also know I could do so much better when it comes to what I'm spending on unnecessary stuff (god, especially food!). I've done a proper SOA below, and whilst I knew pretty much what it would look like, seeing it in black and white helps.
I share a large house with my brother (we have separate living areas), so we split rent, council tax, utilities, contents insurance, and broadband, paying into a shared 'Rent and Bills' account. It has a small surplus which we use for things like a gardener over the summer. We don't have cable but we have separate Netflix accounts. We buy our own food and only make shared meals once or twice a month, due to our work shifts and his picky eating.
It's coming on a new year, and it's time to form some better habits!

Shredded another credit card today - bye bye, Capital One, and your 25.9% interest rate!0

Reviewing our house share bills account today, realised there was enough surplus to skim off what we won't be spending on council tax in February and March. That's £120 paid straight off my Nationwide credit card, and £120 gone into my housemate's holiday saving account.
What's more, I think the Christmas cash I was going to bolster my January bank account with might not be needed for bolstering purposes, so once I'm sure (at the end of this week), that'll be an extra £80 off the credit card balance.. which will drop my debt into the below £8,000 bracket!

January summary
+ Monthly repayment goal - £500. Actual repayment £551 - amazing considering Christmas!
+ Credit score increased by 73 points.
Not so good - added £100 on my credit card due to a car service, but will clear that within a month. Debt now dropped under £8000!0 -
February summary
+ Monthly repayment goal - £500. Actual repayment £405.42.
+ Moved Nationwide balance onto Barclaycard following 0% for 1 yr on balance transfers offer.0 -
