Thanks Bob, to be honest I'm not really sure I had a choice...

That's to be determined Kitten. Nothing until he finds a job, and once he does it will probably only be enough to cover his food and the increase in energy bills.
OHs family and friends did the same for him when he arrived so I think he wants to 'pay it forward' as it were. Anything he does pay over and above food/bill amount will go to mortgage overpayments as that's only fair in my mind. Will try and have another conversation with OH about it before he actually arrives...
We have a fairly small food budget (£50 a week for 2 of us) that includes breakfast, lunches to take to work and dinners so I think we do pretty well, although we do go to the local once a week for their beer and a burger for £7.50 which comes out of our own spends) so as long as he is happy to eat what I cook, he will just bung £100 a month into the food kitty. I have been very clear that I don't mind him staying but I will not be out of pocket because of it so we will see how that goes...

Went to see my grandparents yesterday as they have given us their old (lovely!) BBQ and an old pressure washer so needed to collect them and wanted to see my GD with it being fathers day. I came down with a stinking cold last week which I was hoping would clear up in time (my GD had a heart bypass a few years ago and suffers terribly from chest infections so I didn't want to pass anything on) but I started feeling worse on Friday night - called to say I didn't want them to get ill and was given a very stern talking to about how they are old enough to decide for themselves if they don't mind getting sick and that they'd been looking forward to our visit all week so that was me told :p!
Left yesterday AM and got there just after lunch, where it transpired that they thought we deserved a treat for doing so well with the house so they had booked us into Miller and Carter with them - not somewhere we normally go as we can't afford to so it was lovely, although I did feel guilty at how much they spent.

Got home this afternoon as someone was supposed to be coming to collect our old sofas and they've decided not to turn up so we could have had a few extra hours with the grandparents .

I feel really rubbish and keep throwing up because I'm coughing so much and generally feeling sorry for myself. I'm a very needy sick person, I want OH to hold my hand and rub my back and bring me water while he is trying to stay away because he doesn't want this - has brought me my fave chocolates though which will really help with my weightloss :o

Listed and sold a few things on fleabay so as soon as those sales hit the bank account there will be more PADing :D

anyway, I'm going to try for a nap as I'm not sleeping too well, wish me luck!

Sorry I wasn't being personal. I didn't mean how much I just meant will he contribute. So no. I see ohs point but still seems a bit crap from your end.
Glad you have had a lovely time with your grandparents :)

It's no problem anyway :) I tell you lot more than friends in RL! I've asked if he will be able to put £250 a month towards room and board, including food which I think is a bloomin good deal but OH was not impressed....time will tell!

Well it's months since I did an update so I've decided that will be a great motivator!

    August 2014 - £29400.23
    July 2015 - £25131.49
    October 2015 - £20253.14
    December 2015 - £18600.00
    Start of January 2016 - £17830.00
    End of January 2016 - £16900.00
    End of Feb 2016 - £15970.00
    Mid June 2016 - £12320.00

Paid off £17080.23 total since August 2014!
£12811.49 of that has been since July 2015!

Almost £13000 in less than a year, that figure amazes me, I have no idea how I managed that when it is over half of what I earn annually BEFORE tax :D and in that time I have bought a house and had work done to said house...I feel like superwoman at the moment :rotfl:

    Roll on the next year

    Thanks Kitten!

I wasn't sure myself so I've been trying to work it out - I set aside a budget every month for PADing but I take all the money left that I set aside for other budgets and PAD it.
When OH and I moved in together I sold a bumper load of furniture, clothes and bits and pieces I had lying round. I think I've made an additional 2.5K in eBay sales over the past 10 months which has made a big difference.
I think those bits have really added up. Only having 1 interest bearing debt is a massive help too.
Each thousand is a milestone for me at the moment, but the next big one is under 10K and I CANNOT wait to be in 4 figures!

I am feeling like death warmed up today, I've got sinusitis according to the Doc this morning and I can't sleep at all!

To cheer myself up (and as it is payday) I've made an extra payment to the loan and am now at 50% of the loan paid off! I'm feeling like an ebay queen at the moment, I've got loads listed, mainly small things but every penny helps :D

Congratulations on reducing your debt so quickly — it's great to see the numbers and dates lined up like that! :j :T :j And like you said, you have still been living your life and making changes, not holed up in a cell depriving yourself. I need to remind myself that I can pay back my debt AND have some fun and meet other goals along the way, so it's inspiring to see you doing it :)
