New overflow thread for 11+ers

THE FOLLOWING IS COPIED FROM ORIGINAL FIRST POST ON PREVIOUS THREAD

This is yet another bargain/glitch/DTD/JTD/misprice thread!

We know it's in the 'Gone But Not Forgotten' section!

No, not all of what we say is Tesco related or even of interest to many others but this is the way this thread has formed.

Many of us want to discuss the various deals to be had but this was not appreciated on the main Grabbit forum. As such, we now use this thread to talk about anything. We also discuss ex-husbands and wives, kids and animals. If you have a medical problem we'll nag you until you go to the Doctor. If you're not feeling well we'll provide support, a wee hot drink and whatever chocolate is currently glitching to cheer you up.

Some people try to obscure the store names but this works both ways. It might make it difficult for those who don't have the time to sit here and natter all day but it also makes it difficult for staff/managers to quickly identify any issues at their store.

Please put all your finds in bold with LAST 4 DIGITS OF barcode and photo if possible so we can chat & still speed read for bargains. We don't like arguing so we're not going to take umbrage if one or two deals slip through.

Now sit back, relax and feel free to join in. We don't bite (unless you ask nicely), we will help wherever possible and you don't have to post new deals just to feel like part of the group.

TESCO INSTORE PRICE CHECK POINTS
Many Tesco stores have barcode scanners attached to the wall so that you can check the price of something (don't always trust what it says on the SEL)
This thread lists some known examples:
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=3539593&highlight=tesco+scanner+l
Please do not leave items by the scanners!!! Please do not give the staff extra work by leaving your unwanted scanned items - stores will be loathe to repair or replace scanners if they make extra work for staff!

1P ITEMS IN TESCO
When items in Tesco go beyond the last stage of clearance they are reduced to 1p (typically out of season goods such as xmas goods in February, Valentines goods in March, etc)
This is the link to the daily mail article regarding 1p finds:

TESCO OVERCHARGE POLICY (DTD)
If you are overcharged in Tesco their policy is to give you back twice as much as you overpaid (Double the Difference)
This applies to all Tesco stores including Express.
The policy is displayed on a blue board (usually behind CS) under the heading "If things don't add up"
Staff are notoriously bad at honouring this policy. Excuses such as "the offer expired", "it doesn't apply to electricals", etc will be tried on but are not valid defences.
If offered a refund instead of DTD do not accept it, instead just leave the store and contact Head Office.

ASDAS OVERCHARGE POLICY
If you have been overcharged in Asda you should go to CS desk. They are supposed to refund the difference AND give a £2 giftcard for each different item you are overcharged. Staff occasionally need reminded of this store policy

PRICE COMPARISONS

Tesco, Asda and Sainsburys all have schemes whereby you can claim back some of the cost of your shopping if a competitor was cheaper

Big thanks to wackynut for the below summary of the t&cs for each supermarket's price comparison service

ASDA PRICE GUARANTEE (APG) - INSTORE
A's compares with - T's, S's, M's and W's.
A's give you the difference back plus 10% of the value in the competitor
Comparative prices for S, T & W are taken from mysupermarket.co.uk (prices for M are currently taken from instore visits - the prices shown for M on MSM should be used as a guide only)
You need to have bought at least 8 different items covered by the asda price guarantee, of which at least 1 should be comparable.
Some departments do not count towards your required 8 items (eg clothes, sandwiches, newspapers. See faqs for more info)
No minimum spend. Maximum of 10 of the same product will be compared.
You have to wait 3 hours after after shopping at A's before you can check/print the APG.
Check/print your vouchers here:
http://asdapriceguarantee.co.uk/Compare-Prices/ASDA-receipt.aspx
Periodically the APG site will say you have to wait until 6am the day following your shop. This is not cause for concern. The 3 hour wait has always been restored fairly quickly.
APG used to be capped at £15 but at the moment cap has been lifted.
Each household will not be able to claim more than £100 in any calendar month, nor make more than 10 claims in any calendar month (this is more easily enforced with online shops).
Click here for APG t&cs https://www.asdapriceguarantee.co.uk/terms.html

ASDA PRICE GUARANTEE (APG) - ONLINE
APG shops can also be done for click and collect orders or home delivery
Same rules apply as above with a few exceptions
Results are advertised as being available 48 hours after collection/delivery. In reality results may be available to view immediately after collection.
You can check for your results here:
https://www.asdapriceguarantee.co.uk/Compare-Prices/Login.aspx
On the results page you should click "Get voucher" before you take delivery of your next order. Failure to do this will result in you losing the first APG when you do your next online shop.
Vouchers are credited to your online account (usually on Tuesday afternoons) in increments, starting with 1p, 2p, 5p, etc. Be patient and your full APG value should be credited Do not panic thinking you are only getting 1p!

TESCOS Brand Guarantee - INSTORE AND ONLINE
T's compares with - A's, S’s and M's
Prices are taken from A.com, S.co.uk and instore visits to M
To qualify, you’ll need at least 10 different items, including one branded grocery item in your basket.
it appears that bag re-use no longer counts as one of your 10 items (not even at a non-ss till). This is despite bag re-use appearing on your PP results.
No minimum spend. Maximum of 10 of the same product will be compared.
Brand Guarantee is instant and any difference in price is deducted before you pay your bill. Maximum deduction is £20.
If you want to view your results in detail then enter your receipt details here:
https://secure.tesco.com/brandguarantee

SAINSBURYS BRAND MATCH (BM)
S's compares with - Asda
Comparison prices are taken from A.com
Only one comparable branded product needs to be bought (i.e. any Sainsbury's branded product is a safe filler)
You need to buy any ten different items
Maximum of 10 of the same product
Voucher given at till (even self service tills) but only at some CS tills
Voucher back capped at £10, can be used immediately
If you want to check/query how your bm was calculated then click here the following day. (You can log in via your nectar account and see brand match details for all your shops over the past 8 weeks)
