    Hi all,

1LL I completely agree on the school cooking - pointless - i was at high school in the 90's and still remember when they sacked the home economics teacher and supposedly incorporated it into design and technology - cooking was rotated with textiles, IT, woodworking and whatever else so we got about a lesson every term and even then we never got anywhere near a cooker in that time just copying recipes into our books and learning about weights. I learnt cooking from my mum and I'll be making sure I teach my kids. IMHO instead of spending millions on advertising campaigns the best way to tackle childhood obesity would be to Spend some of that money on teaching proper healthy cooking in schools but thats my personal rant

    Brighty -welcome

Anyhow Thanks for the get well wishes everyone - i feel slightly better but still not great, been sneezing constantly all day which is very annoying and slightly nervewracking when you've birthed 3 kids :rotfl:

Seem to have lost my mojo this week with everything work, home, kids the lot and to be honest its getting me down - feeling ill has meant we've not stuck to our usual healthy eating meal plan and have been nipping to tesco for bits of whatever we fancy. This means instead of my usual £50-£60 we've spent well over £100 on food - thats madness and needs to stop right now. Especially as DH's wages will be short next week due to two! days off sick

On a frugal front today I have:

:A 1p roadkill to debt jar
    :A no heating needed today
:A NSD today - not been well enough to go out - again!
    :A B, L, D from stores
:A cashed out £3 from topcashback - gone to debt jar
:A cashed out £2.53 from qmee - gone to debt jar
:A done a fair few surveys
:A ordered a load of water saving gizmos via the MSE link
:A fed kids the last of the storecupboard muffins for dessert - even fussypants (the eldest small) said he loves them so will definitely be making those again

Heres hoping I feel better tomorrow and can start gettbg things back on track
Total debts £21050! now £10941. 76. Total extra income made in Jan22 £109. 27 Feb 22 £45.25 Total extra income made in 2022 £154.52 Aiming for debt free at 45 - 41 months to go!

    * check onepoll
    * searched out and found plimsolls & trainers for madam on flaebay - hopefully I'll get them for a song :money:
    *[STRIKE] Flylady'd the kitchen[/STRIKE]
    * clean lounge windows - really need to do this!
    * actually list 3 things
    * return books to library get madam some - to add to the school discussion. Madam only gets 1 story book & 1 reading book a week! She's supposed to read 10 mins a day. Last week she read the book in one setting so the rest of the week she's supposed to read the same book??? She is supposed to read it at least 2 times, but I think it's not really exciting enough to foster the joy of reading! I'm taking matters into my own hands and get some early readers from the library.

That's all I can think of! Have a great day :D

    Good Morning All

Not feeling the greatest today as poor sleep - thank you cough for deciding to strike in the middle of the night for the last few nights. Yesterday was just a day of the normal "small things" along with a family get together with DH's brothers & sisters for lunch (10 of us catching up was lovely, a bit noisy at times but good fun) and one of brother's paid so a great treat. Today we have/will:

Check Bank & made PAD - Done
    Gym (rehab/physio) -
    Return library books -
    Hairdresser @ home -
    Purge a few emails -
    Enter a few comps -
    Surveys -
    All meals from cupboards/fridge/freezer -
Check: Tombola Stars, Lucky Bob, Luckyphone, FPL -

    Have a great day all.

We have snow, but hoping to go out later as now have blue skies and I think it will disappear quite quickly.

I've found it interesting reading about 1llson's 'cookery' lesson.

I did the same as foxgloves at school, an O level in home economies that involved, nutrition , food science, practical cookery skills and I knew that it what I wanted to do I loved it.

My degree is a consumer degree where I specialised in food science and nutrition in my third year and that was what my dissertation was based on. Without those basic skills there is no way I could have specialised in this module.

Despite my health issues (and my specialist setting me up for a fall, for realisation to hit that my health problems were not going to cope) I trained to become a home economics teacher. With the changes with the whole 'design and technology' I had to teach child care and textiles as well.
With one school placement totally shocked, cookery lessons were all based around industry. When I asked about basic cooking skills and that bringing in a tin of pie filling and a pack of filo pastry to make different designs of pastries was not cookery I was told not to argue.

My next school placement was brilliant. The teacher was very much about the children learning to cook as much as they could and she wanted as much practical skills crammed in to enable the kids to feed themselves in the real world. It was brilliant much more realistic. Unfortunately I was never able to follow through as a career as the specialist forced my hand and did make me realise that my health wouldn't manage(after two 6 week stints in hospital) but I have been able to use the skills I learnt in other areas of my life.

Leg is still swollen, It's having one of its moments, just always have to keep an eye out for any blood clot danger signs.
Have only really been doing the basics,
    -banking checked
-food being used up, no room in the freezer so have been enjoying the leftovers and turning into hot filling meals.
-I've been so slow on paperwork, really not motivated
-pop a chicken curry in the slow cooker using reduced frozen chicken from Tesc@. Our local Tesc@ has been getting rid of a load of frozen items cheap, I think they must be re branding, but have picked up a lot of items very cheap hence no room in the freezer but will be all used when DD comes home at Easter. Have already planned a lot of meals around the items.
-just going to update my spends book with another cuppa and plod on very slowly.

ziggy well done on the comp win
For the lurgy sufferers I hope u are feeling better soon.
1LL and DawnW thank you for it kind concern with the leg, just very bad circulation with the spinal damage I'm afraid......and it does seem to do its own thing compared to the rest of me!!!!!!

Right off to get another cuppa, have a great day everyone x

    Hi March Money Magicians,

Work later. :( Managed to haul snuffy-self out of bed.

    Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Year Three:

    * Work very hard on my own mental health issues. Do Holistrio App.

    * Check online banking and broadband usage.

    * Turned off alarm clock until tonight, it resets itself automatically.

    * Made a chilli with sweet potato chunks in for when we both get in from work tonight. Grated cheese on top.

    * Made a packed lunch for work. Just some fruit and cheese and crackers.

    * Cheese on toast for brunch. (Cheese is my thing! :rotfl:)

    Evening all :)
Just got my brother settled into his new flat - lovely to come home and nobody here except the dog :D He seems really happy, and thanked OH and I (first time ever after a lifetime of bailing him out, on one occasion literally ). So, hopefully he will settle, and while he will need some support, we won't have him living here any more - he is a really difficult person to live with :(

Anyway, that has taken up most of the day, as it involved collecting freecycle items and various other sorting, but I have managed a few other things:
Went to the market for fresh veg this morning. Got most of what I wanted, though it was a bit chaotic this week
Popped into the weekly flea market and bought a few bits to sell on - these don't find their way onto my spreadsheet as I keep separate records / accounts for my business :)
Updated spreadsheet with spends on veg etc
Dried a load of washing on the line
All HM meals, even though I have felt a bit yucky today after yet another poor nght's sleep :(
Wrapped 2 ebay parcels for posting tomorrow
Found a couple of items to list tomorrow :)
Received more stamps from RM surveys - my participation is coming to an end for a while in a couple of weeks
Tidied up a bit in the dining room, which becomes an awful dumping ground :o
Convinced OH to part with a chest of drawers that he has somehow rammed into his den - DD wants one, and it is only in the way. He is a bit of a hoarder, and I am desperately trying to reduce the amount of furniture in the house:eek: With him being a hoarder and me being a junk dealer, you can imagine it is not minimalist by any means here
