Gap Year Travel - Going It Alone vs Choosing an Agency

But what I want to know is just how much organisations like this are making out of people like me. Is the work they put in organising everything and having the right relationships to gather the best deals going to make it better value than were I to just get some flights and make it up as I go along jetting off to foreign shores with a backpack and a dream?

Where's the value?
