Good morning lovely people - I am after a little bit of info and I'm hoping you can help.
I have recently been sorting through my OH's accounts filing complaints for mis-sold ppi.
A complaint against MBNA (credit card) was upheld and paid.

My query is that I have discovered paperwork from MBNA Europe dating from 2001 and the account numbers differ from those for MBNA. The giro on these Statements shows the 'bank' as Co-operative and OH is adamant that he never held a CC with Co-op.

How do I know / find out if these are one of the same or different (or is the differing Account numbers enough)?

Many thanks in advance, Nats x

Giro details show how payments are made. It needn't relate to his account details.

I think MBNA changed its account numbering some years ago. Ask MBNA.

Even CC companies have to bank with someone. It just means that MBNA banked with the Co-Op.

MBNA listed 3 account numbers on my successful claim, with one being the earlier version of another.

Is / was MBNA Europe the same as MBNA... is it just a case of name change / re-branding?

    Hi All!

Still on the MBNA theme, but a different question.

We were successful in a complaint to MBNA and the letter accompanying the payment listed 3 x accounts.
Since then, I have discovered OH had ppi on an Alliance & Leicester credit card... there are 3 account numbers associated to this. I sent a complaint to Santander who have come back with a letter stating the dates that various aspects of Abbey / Alliance & Leicester were taken over by themselves and MBNA.
Although I do have quite a few statements, I am going to struggle to prove the account was open at a time whereby it would have gone to Santander.... but I am wondering if MBNA would have looked at EVERYTHING my OH held with them or whether it would just have been the accounts linked to the one we listed in our complaint?

If we speak to MBNA about the account numbers listed on the cheque letter will they be able to see their origins?

Thanks as always for all your help / comments. x
