This Duo's debt free journey 20th Sep 17 at 8:43 PM
I had a previous thread but having problems locating it so thought I would start a fresh one. Brief intro, the duo is me and my little one, just over a year ago my debt was at a figure of around £12k, as of today it stands at £6124.40. This is made up of 2 loans (one car) and one credit card which is 0% until April 2019.

My aim is to save up over the next 6/8 months so that I can overpay 6 months worth on the loan with the shortest term, this will clear the loan completely as the last payment is December 18. Then I will tackle the second loan which is due to end April 19, I aim to clear this by around December 18 and then clear the 0% card last but well in time for the 0% ending.

I can't do much until January, I'm currently studying and therefore get my income 3 times per year which I use to overpay, I have just cleared £1500 which is all I can manage until my next payment. This includes a monthly saving to my Help to Buy ISA. I have around £4k in my ISA but I am reluctant to use this to clear my debts as I will earn more back on this then I will save in interest with the governments 25% bonus.

I have gone over all of my monthly bills and I am certain that I cannot make any further savings than I have made recently. I am currently listing as much on ebay as I can to give me a little extra money for treats that I haven't included in my budget up to December.

Will update my signature shortly but as it stands my debt free date is April 2019, I aim to bring this forward to Dec 2018 at the very latest.

Allow yourself to feel a bit rubbish today - if I'm having a carp day I allow myself until bedtime to wallow. Tomorrow is a new day and I hope you feel better x

Thank you, I'm going to try and do a little studying this evening and also do another 4k steps to hit my 10k once DS is in bed.

Ordered a Christmas present this afternoon from my amazon vouchers, leaves me with 6 more to get, 1 of which will just be a token gift.

I have a huge to do list for tomorrow, in fact for the next week as I have a lot of deadlines coming up so I am going to use this to get them down and try and keep myself accountable for what I do each day.

    So tomorrow:

    Cycle to uni
    Attend 3 x lectures
    10k steps
    Print past exam papers
    Tidy downstairs
    Revision for test this week
    List on eBay
    DS swimming lesson
    Start writing up assignment

Haven't done too well with my list today! Today was a NSD though.

Cycle to uni - Morning did not go to plan so didn't have time to walk DS to childcare with my bike so had to take the car.
    Attend 3 x lectures Done
    10k steps - 7500 achieved.
Print past exam papers - don't need these just yet so will do tomorrow.
    Tidy downstairs Done
Revision for test this week Done a little, this will appear every day this week.
List on eBay - Didn't have time for this but I have sold something today, have 2 parcels to send out tomorrow.
    DS swimming lesson Done
Start writing up assignment - putting this off until next week, its not due in until January and I just can't focus on it with my test coming up.

    Tomorrow

Spend the day at uni doing revision (9.30 - 2)
    More revision/studying in the evening
Print past exam papers for MT module
    Tidy upstairs
    Post 2 parcels
10k steps (unlikely as I will be sitting down all day)

I'm sure I added other things to my list but I can't remember, will edit if I remember!

Yeah I think it may have been a little ambitious. I was extremely annoyed with myself this morning that I couldn't cycle in as this would have saved me around £4.50 in fuel and parking.

Oh on the plus side my total extra income is now up to £57.10 for the month so far after a couple more eBay sales and my refund coming through with £21 to add as soon as the pending money has cleared through PA.

Today was slightly more productive than yesterday although I am extremely unprepared for my upcoming deadlines! Another NSD today and spent some lovely time reading with DS after school. Also managed to list a couple of things on eBay.

Spend the day at uni doing revision (9.30 - 2) Didn't do the full time but managed a few hours.
More revision/studying in the evening I'm beginning this very shortly, will work for a minimum of 2/3 hours.
Print past exam papers for MT module Will do this at uni tomorrow ready to go over on Friday.
    Tidy upstairs Done
    Post 2 parcels Done
10k steps (unlikely as I will be sitting down all day) Done

    Tomorrow

Print past papers for MT module
Quickly tidy any mess ready for landlords visit
    10k steps
    Minimum 4 hours revision
    Iron DS uniform

The best of luck with your exam! Honestly when uni work gets on top of me I get so close to giving up! Then I look at my DD and remind myself as to why I'm doing it all and that giving up is not an option! That and the amount of student loan debt I've already racked up I'm sure you'll do great and maybe treat yourself to a nice coffee, cake or a cheap bottle of wine to celebrate and de-stress after your exam
