Hi all
A few weeks back I received a letter from SCS Law on behalf of UKPC for multiple PCNs for overstaying in a free car park. The letter claimed to be a letter before claim. The total claim was over £1000 including fees added on per ticket.
The dates of the PCNs range from early 2015 and one earlier this year.
I have read the Newbies thread and followed the advice and sent the initial letter to SCS Law as recommended by the thread which tells SCS law that their letter is insufficient according to the Practice Directions. The guidance said to expect a template letter but the letter I received looked tailor made and they also sent a pack containing photos and letters which I didn't expect at all.
I haven't seen any other advice but I wanted to be sure that the advice in the thread regarding responding to Letters before claim was still up to date (have the practice directions changed for example) and whether to still follow through with the second letter as described or if any of you have any other advice that could help?
Many many thanks.

Does the letter include a full breakdown of the costs? I'm assuming it's about 5 invoices with a huge amount of debt collection charges on top.
Does it also include a breakdown of each of the incidents in a coherent way?
It might be easier if you can share a redacted (no name/address/identification numbers) copy of the letter and we'll see how many holes we can pick in it.1 -
For that amount of money, it's no surprise they are taking more interest in it, to the extent of actually putting in some effort on their part. Don't expect them to abandon their claim (yet).
Does their response answer all the points you put to them?
Does their response (and anything else they've sent) conform to the latest Practice Directions?
For any part of the answers to the above which is a "no", challenge them on it. The intention is to cause them as much hassle as possible (for which they cannot claim costs in the Small Claims Court) and string them along till they finally get the message that it's not going to be cost effective to carry on.1 -
Hi all many thanks for your replies.
I am not near a scanner at the moment and so I will post them as soon as I can this afternoon. I have a question though...how do I post said letters to the forum? Do I send them to you privately or on the page here and how would I do that?
Thanks again.0 -
Upload them to dropbox or other hosting site (like Photobucket), then post a broken link (or links) in a reply - someone will make them live.
Broken means replace http with hxxp1 -

the sticky threads are regularly updated, mainly the coupon-mad one
the Crabman sticky thread has the LBCCC fightback details but you will see those posts have not been updated
as for the actual Practice Directions , they were changed last year (2015)1 -
Hi all. Apologies for delay. Photobucket was being a little uncooperative but I cracked it in the end. Below are the links to the letters concerned:
This is the original letter sent by SCS Law:

@OP
The PPCs do monitor this forum and can use your posts here against you.
You need to make your photos anonymous as they can easily identify you (eg the list of your tickets gives the exact location and dates - not to mention your full name and address details! etc etc)1 -
Thank you. I have never used photobucket before so I thought the links would only let u see the pics I edited and sent to the forum, not the whole album. I have deleted those pics now.0

Hi all.
Anyone have any ideas as to the best next steps? Preferably, I would obviously not want it to get to court but if it does I want to put myself in the best position with my next response.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.0
