Demand letter from Park Resorts

Options
Hi all. Hoping this is the correct forum for this question.

I have received a letter from Park Resorts (Holiday Park Company) asking for £2121.44 to be paid within 10 days unless the balance will be passed on to a Debt Agency. I wish I had that kind of money to clear the balance, but I don't.

My question is two-fold.

1. When I tried to set up an arrangement with Park Resorts in the past, they told me they don't do that. Then I was an owner with a van on one of their resorts. Should I try again direct with Park Resorts to work out a payment arrangement with them or wait until it goes to the Debt Agency instead?

2. Will this 'debt' go on my credit report. As it stands with PR, it isn't on the report and shouldn't be as it isn't reliant on credit searches. But if the account is passed on to their DA, will that then get listed on my credit report?

Advice on this matter is much appreciated.

    Hi,

Depends what the debt was for, if it was for an agreement covered by the consumer credit act, then it will appear on your file.

If it was for something else, it won't.

Dealing with the DCA will be more productive than park resorts.

It is for site fees, including any 'extras' the park liked to throw in. Like the £52.50 disconnection fee they charged me to disconnect the caravan I already had disconnected for them.

I don't know if this would come under the CCA. How could I tell?

I will probably let the invoice bounce to the DCA then if they will be more productive, rather than waste my time with PR.

No it won't show on your credit file.

You should be able to negoatiate a good discount with the DCA, that's if they buy the debt, if there just acting for park, wait until they sell it.
