Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    edited 29 December 2016 at 6:19PM
    Hi All

Just settling down for a nice cup of tea after a busy day. A few of my efforts today:
    * Between us we found 16p roadkill
*My son wombled a set of dumbells! He could have had three but we had no way of transporting them
    * My son got himself a free babycino because the cafe didn't have change!
    * We got some medicine for free as it was for the children
    * Made turkey sandwiches and a flask of soup to take out with us, although we did buy a pack of pure juice lollies (3 for £2.50) and I helped DD to eat hers as she hasn't had much fluids with her cold.
*Used the library to print flyers. Went into two. The first was utterly useless. 45 mins to try and print. The member of staff couldn't assist properly. Very frustrating with two fed up kids. The second were like the dream team of libraries and sorted us out easily and quickly. Overall cost saving by printing instead of using a print shop loads!
    * Flyered for around 1 hour in a high visibility area. Only cost, foot power
    * We found a cheque for £8.17 near the pharmacy but we couldn't figure out the best way to get it back to its owner so we put it on a wall. At least it wouldn't get ruined by the frost then.
    *Came home for cuppas

Arrived home to my business bank statement for December. Which shows just under £2000 earned and paid in during that month. I still have some money to gather in (£190) but I can't be bothered to go out knocking skulls at the moment. And thankfully we have enough to eat so....

Very tired, still coughing a lot, and my shoulder and arm are very stiff. But I will have a hot bath tonight and hope for a MUCH better night. I haven't taken any meds at all today which is the first day since boxing day. So hopefully the lack of caffeine will help.

Thanks again for all the nice wishes, I know I'm very lucky not to have done a lot worse.

    Bob

  • Oh Bob - hope that you are feeling ok and that you're not pushing yourself too hard. I've been down the stairs in my own house twice and know how painful it is. Hope that you're less stiff tomorrow and that the flu has made an exit.

  • Morning,

What an eventful few days you've had, hope you're feeling much better today? Flu is horrible, I've had it twice and it really drains you.

Ouch to falling down the stairs, hope you're not too sore and the bath helped?

How did DD like her cot? Did she sleep all night?
  • Hi Bob hope you're feeling ok today and the mini bobs slept ok

Hopefully next few days will be less eventful for you! Proper flu like you had is awful, my DH has had it twice whilst we've been together and it just wipes you out. One of my bugbears is when someone says they have flu, but then is in work/socialising etc.. and I just think if they really have it they wouldn't be doing anything !

    Oh Bob!
Glad the flu has gone, owww! to falling down the stairs. I am excellent at falling down/off stuff. I can't even wear bootleg trousers cos somehow I tie up my feet coming down stairs. Bump. Every time. So it is skinny all the way for me, sadly the trousers are skinny, me less so. Must get on with that........

  • Hope you're feeling better today Bob and I'm hoping that dd slept in her cot all night. I got up at 5am and had an extra couple of hours on the sofa... think I've gotten myself into a bad habit.

I'm so much better than I was PM, but not completely back to normal. It's the residual feeling of being off balance and the bad chest/cough that won't go away. But hey! I have spookily had flu twice myself. Once when my son was 14 months, and now when my daughter is. Either it's because of the time of year or maybe something like time since giving birth plus lack of sleep, low immunity from general child germ infestation who knows! No not all night but the few hours we had just OH and I were so appreciated.

Thanks PF. Completely agree. A few sniffles is not the flu.

Foxy maybe you need a pair of trousers clips a la a cycling headmaster? I can see you looking mighty fine on the school run:rotfl:
You have my sympathy though really.

    Hi All

I am seriously getting worried about the time slide going on in this house. Today we started getting up and washed at 11am! In fairness OH had risen a few hours earlier to do breakfast. We are all over the place after Christmas and me being in bed ill.

    Anyway todays efforts

    * We went to our nearest big town to split a cheque into the kids savings accounts. £20 into each pot.
    * Packed more turkey sandwiches to take with us. And a flask of home made turkey and veg soup.
    * Son took a video game to trade in at CEX. He recieved £10 which he then bought another game with. This has been a great habit to get him into early as gaming is such an expensive hobby otherwise.
    * I ended up getting a free bus ride home as the driver waved me on despite my card not working.
    * Wrote a list for the small amount of top up shopping we needed and stuck to it. Squash, catfood salad, used a triple points coupon at the tills.
    * DS and DH did the £ shop challenge (inspired by CrazyCatLady) whilst I did the groceries.
    * Meant to go and investigate joining the toy library for DD but forgot. One for next time.
    * Tonight's dinner is from a Mr S waste special use it up reciepe which suggested using leftover stuffing as a pizza topping. So I will be making the dough shortly.

    Enjoy your evenings all.

    Bob
