Moving House, Renovations & OPs 23rd May 17 at 4:48 PM
    Hi! Welcome to my diary.
I've been inspired after reading many others diaries so I am ready to join in the fun.
We are buying a new house Yippee!
We have a few things that we would like/need to pay before we move so hopefully this diary will help me to stop stressing and start doing.
When we move there will be quite a bit of work to be done to modernise our new home. Then we'd like to start some side line money making schemes to OP the mortgage (on top of our Mon-Fri 9-5 employment).
    A bit about us:
DH &I rented for a few years until we moved into Dh parents house for a year to save a deposit.
We bought our current house nearly 5 years ago, got married, renewed the roof & boiler and many other bits since then.
We've OPd a little and have paid off most of our debt so now have enough equity to move to somewhere more rural. Our offer was accepted on our dream (within budget) house. Therefore we worked our butts off painting and moving every bit of furniture around to make our home a house to show.
We accepted an offer on our house after 4 weeks on the market. Our vendors are waiting to find a bungalow.

As you may see, my diary will not all be financial as I will be including our adventure of the moving process.
Any questions, comments, cheering along the way would be most appreciated.

I know we could stay in this house and be more financially comfortable but that's not how to play the game.......

Keep venting in your diary, it'll help! Not much to say about house situation other than keeping fingers crossed for you all!

You're right SJ, it really does help to vent here.

I've been soooo grumpy this week but I'm feeling more positive now. I'm still kicking myself about my driving test. I've booked another which is 2 months away as that was the next available slot. The test changes in December so I have to pass next time. I'm going to carry on with the lessons and ask my instructor to fill in a test sheet every time.

    Positive No.1 (I think) -
Spoke to our agents yesterday, our buyers had been in to see our agents financial advisor. She said its positive and they do have options. She couldn't tell us what the options were but said not to worry. Still feeling in limboland.

    Positive No.2
Also, we swallowed our pride and asked the in laws if they could or would mind lending us £500. They said no. Instead they have given us £1000 which they were planning on giving us when we move. HUGE RELIEF!! I can't tell you how thankful we are! We've put it in a spare bank account and we are treating it as house money. Anything we borrow from this (for driving test and MOT) will be paid back next month.

    Positive No.3
DH has been promised a £4000 pay rise in January. This will make a massive (to us) £220 a month difference.

We are still doing the weekly/monthly challenges but this week I haven't been keeping an eye on where its gone as we have been using cash. I do know that we have spent £110 though. Nothing sold on ebsy last week but I did have to send a refund for an item broken in transit, my fault, I should have packed it better, lesson learnt.

Hellooo diary!!!! I've missed posting here so much. To cut a very long story short - our buyers managed to cancel our internet. We have been in limboland, packed and ready to go with no internet, no tv, no games, no craft room since mid August. I'm dog sitting at my mum's tonight and I'm enjoying an evening of internet and carp TV more than ever.
    Anyway....
WE'VE EXCHANGED!!!!! 2 days ago. Moving on 20th October. I can't tell you how much of a stress it has been but, it's over now and we are so excited to start our new life in the country.
In other news, I have passed my driving test (3rd time lucky) and received my pink licence.
All is looking good, money is ok so, I'm off to get some phone numbers and quotes from tradespeople now.

Happy days! Hope everyone is doing well on their money saving journeys? X
