Daughter leaving school

My daudhter is eligible to leave school on 25/6 and will be seeking a full time job. The complication is she is not 16 until 3/8. What benefits is she entitled to and from when until she finds work ?
It pays to challenge

Assuming there's no other peculiar factor and your daughter lives with you and we are talking about JSA here... then it looks like 3/8/2007!

The Welfare Benefits handbook says: 16 and 17 year olds - you cannot qualify for JSA if you are living with someone who is 'responsible' for you.

However, there are all sorts of exceptions listed so she ought to have a chat to the good folk at the jobcentre on her 16th birthday if she's unemployed then.

Basicly nothing till 18. If she signs with connexions you keep child benefit until 18 (this seems to have come down from 19). You don't pay council tax for her until 18 (applicable if a single parent). You get child tax credits for 20 weeks after the last day at school or last exam (whichever is later).

If you are on benefits you alledgedly keep all benefits for her until she signs on but this *might* be before 18.

I think they make some rules up as they go along though.
    Regards
