Default/prepayment metres

Hi guys,
A few years ago I hit a rough patch and neglected my electricity/gas and ended up in debt. (more so for gas)I opted to gave pre payment metres installed 3/4 years ago and have managed to pay off the electricity debt over 1year...maybe 2 years ago.
Still in debt with gas but tonight I signed up for a credit file check and nnoticed 2 defaults with Scottish Power as recent as May this year. (And every month before that!)
Does anyone know why this may be? I'm not terribly savy when it comes to things like this.
Thanks in advance
PS. I have emailed Scottish Power also

Its because you did not pay your bill & had to have prepayment meters put in. The defaults will be on your credit file for six years0

AFAIK it will show as a default each month until your debt is paid as you still owe them outstanding money and companies usually update each month. Defaults stay on your file for 6 years from the last default.0

The original default can show as a "D" or "8" every month until the account is settled, but that in not a new default each month. Just a status update on the original default recorded. The actual default and history will be removed 6 years from the original recorded "default date".Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
