Help with Cake recipie .. Kids deserve a treat

Hi guys

So what a week it's been ...
Monday one of the boys feell over at school and I get a message saying he's in A&E turns out he's broken his clavicle then yesterday other son comes home from school .. He's been smacked in the face playing football and how has mega tooth ache and after a trip to the dentist it looks like he might loose his front tooth :(

So both kids are off schooled I'm not in work until tonight so I thought I would make them a cake ...

So it would be fab if you could give me a recipie ... Something chocolately and yum to try and cheer them up

I have a pretty good store cupboard so fingers crossed

Thanks a mill guys

Ouch, not the greatest of weeks then :(

8oz each of butter, and sugar. 6oz self raising flour, 2oz cocoa powder, 3 eggs, 2 tsp baking powder.
Mix all together, divide into 2 sandwich tins and bake for 30mins ish at 180 degrees, till springy to touch.
Once cool sandwich with buttercream, Nutella, fresh cream or whatever you fancy :)

    Enjoy :)

With boys I'd look to make rock cakes, rather than sponges... bit more rugged.

put oven on 180°. Line or grease an 8" cake tin Sorry, I'm a dinosaur, everything is in old money.

    Into a bowl put...
5oz SR flour, 6oz caster sugar, 6oz soft margarine, 3oz drinking choc powder, 3 large eggs, 3tbs boiling water.

beat, or electric whisk for a couple of minutes.
    place in tin.
    bake for about an hour.

    pray.

    Cool.
Slice through middle and fill and top with whatever takes your fancy.

    Good filling/topping is......

    melt scant 3oz butter
add 3tbs cocoa, 9oz icing sugar, 3tbs hot milk, 1tsp vanilla essence.
beat like mad until smooth and thick.....like most men I know!

    Get well wounded soldiers.

You could let them get involved and make rocky road or fridge cake as I knew it, 200g melted chocolate and them whatever you have I have used Rice Krispies, sultanas, mini marshmallows or broken up digestives, dried apricots chopped up and chopped cherries - loads of combinations - squish into a lined tin, a quick chill and you are done :)

Or just Rice Krispie or cornflakes cakes
Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!
