trouble with o2

hello,
I am writing on behalf of a friend who does not have any internet access.
July 2014 she entered into a contract with o2, and purchased a phone as part of the contract. The phone was a microsoft Phablet. It was a two year contract.
She took the Phablet deal on advice as she needed to use her phone both as a phone and to manage emails and internet access.
The phone, from the beginning, has had constant problems She has, in the two years, had very little use of it and for much of the time has had no use of it except to use it as a camara! all this time she has been paying a monthly charge to o2.
She complained and after the first couple of months they agreed to take back the phone and found it was faulty, and the phone was returned to her as working, and with an upgrade, but it still doesn't work properly.
She has been unable to deal easily with this matter as she has had no internet access and became exhausted with the constant problems of the phone.
In july her contract expired but she is still having money taken form her account. I inquired, through the o2 complaints service on line on her behalf and was told she has to formally ask to get out of the contract.
She still has the Phablet.
Please can anybody advise as to proceed with this matter, she has taken the phone on several occasions to her local mobile shop but they have not been able to give her any useful advise.
She is seriously out of pocket over the deal.
thankyou.

Contracts don't expire, so she needs to cancel it if she wants the contract to end.

It's difficult to advise on the 'phablet' and your friends problems. Perhaps you could let us know the model and what problems she has?

It is a contract with a two year minimum term, and will continue to run until she cancels it.

O2 can be contacted by phone, and have their own shops (don't they?). Your friend has neglected contacting them to remedy the phone problem and/or cancel the contract for far too long already. There's not much that anyone else can do, except perhaps advise on the phone problem if it's not an inherent fault.

Was the phone 1 of the Lumia range by any chance ?

What was or is wrong with the phone ?

I agree with the previous 2 posters she needs to cancel the contract in writing or over the phone by asking for a PAC code which will enable her to move to another network and keep her number.

Unfortunately she had done this but Sky's CS agent had also cancelled the SIMs leaving no numbers to port

    Isn't this about O2?

    She can:
    • write to O2 to ask for a Port Authorisation Code (PAC)
    • ask that they terminate the contract in 30 days.
    • convert the phone to O2 PAYG in 30 days.

I'm missing why the lack of Internet access stops his/her access to phones and post boxes though x
