Another big decision/announcement .... only 33 yrs to go. But nice to see decentralized generation being 'bigged up' near the end.

Hi
I suppose the issue they've missed is that by the time all of this new nuclear capacity comes on line, energy from other sources will likely be 'too cheap to meter' ... _pale_:whistle::silenced: ...

I've just realised something weird, I'm suggesting £60/MWh ain't cheap, nor worth the long term investment. Boy things have moved fast in the RE world this decade.Mart. Cardiff. 5.58 kWp PV systems (3.58 ESE & 2.0 WNW)

In case anyone is still interested here's a couple of surprising Tesla Semi truck articles.
Firstly there have been lots of orders for the trucks, even though they aren't available till 2019, estimates (that don't included Tesla's own large freight needs) are around 300:-
PepsiCo Orders 100 Tesla Semi Trucks — Largest Tesla Semi Order To Date
But once you know the price, the first article shouldn't be a surprise. Most 'experts' & 'analysts' estimated the trucks would cost north of $250,000 v's about $80-$100,000 for a normal diesel. But the actual prices are $150k for the 300 mile range truck, and $180k for the 500 mile truck*, with US savings on just the diesel v's leccy at around £25k pa (probably double that in Europe?)
Tesla Semi Price × Orders = $47 Million to $55 Million in Tesla Revenue (with Assumptions)
*Interestingly, a price difference of $30k between the trucks, for what is probably 400kWh of battery, suggests that Tesla has (or expects to soon) be producing batts at less than $100/kWh.Mart. Cardiff. 5.58 kWp PV systems (3.58 ESE & 2.0 WNW)

This article is worth a read simply to see the variety of measures being deployed and trialed. Lots of integration.

Fantastic news! But there are a few small caveats.
Netherlands First To Hold Subsidy-Free Wind Power Auction
There have been subsidy free bids before, but this is an actual subsidy free auction, which if unsuccessful will result in an auction offering small subsidies.
It's classed as 'near-shore', which is a bit cheaper than off-shore windfarms that are many miles out.
Like most of Europe, but not the UK, the cost of grid connection isn't paid for by the windfarm, which helps to keep bid prices down.
But, but, but ..... these aren't major issues, and this is a good reflection of the rapidly falling cost of off-shore wind.Mart. Cardiff. 5.58 kWp PV systems (3.58 ESE & 2.0 WNW)

Quick update. The Pepsi order for 100 has been beaten by 125 for UPS. Reuters now suggests that there are over 400 truck pre-orders, but the Tesla rumour mill has suggested (from insiders) that it may be over 2,000.
125 Tesla Semi Trucks Ordered By UPS (New Record)
And in smaller Tesla news, M3 production may have ramped up rapidly towards the 5,000/week target, as some parts suppliers (particularly one in China) has had to ramp up its supply considerably and start flying parts (rather than shipping) to meet current demand. But this could of course be hype.Mart. Cardiff. 5.58 kWp PV systems (3.58 ESE & 2.0 WNW)

Just a quick update to say that zero subsidy bids were submitted for the near shore wind farm auction in the Netherlands. So a massive step forward towards subsidy free off-shore wind power.
