  • I don't believe children should have mobile phone or indeed, unsupervised access to the Internet.
Allow me to quote from my original post, which you quoted but apparently didn't read.
No child should have unsupervised access to the internet outside of school.
They will know how to use the net.
I saw my first hardcore !!!!!! film on my friends computer by the age of 12. Trust me, my parents could have done nothing to prevent that.

But if that child, like you, had no unsupervised access to the internet, the chances of being able to see a hardcore film would be reduced.
A pedophile could live around the corner and target my child.

And millions of !!!!!philes are on the net, trawling social media, sharing tips as to how to groom your child if they meet them online.
I don't see the mugging bit an issue
Generally, crime has been falling this century.

The exception is mugging which rose with the increase in mobile phone ownership. Children bore the brunt of that increase.
    Wow, lots of space here!
  • I would like to see some common sense instilled in children

    The trouble is, it can't.

Children, by definition, don't have the experience to deal with the dangers that a mobile phone brings.

That's why teenage girls are persuaded to take photos of themselves naked to send to other people.

That's why teenagers travel to meet !!!!!philes they've met on the net.

That's why teenage boys regard and behave towards teenage girls with attitudes warped by hardcore pornography.
    Wow, lots of space here!

I'm amazed some people are voting "Five or under".

I voted "17+" as I don't believe children should have mobile phone or indeed, unsupervised access to the Internet.

Parents: Do you want your child to have access to hardcore pornography?

If so, give them a mobile phone.

At 16 you can have sex legally.

    Parent settings.

Besides when I was younger (34 now), there was top shelf ;)

Would you be happy for your 16yo daughter to have sex with a 56yo man?
    Parent settings.
    Not insurmountable.

Did those top shelf mags feature videos of rape or torture?
Did they target you or bully you to create !!!!!! using your own body?

That is the reality for many teenage girls.

Teenage boys have seen lots of hardcore !!!!!! and its changed their attitude to their female schoolmates.
    Wow, lots of space here!

At what age should kids be given their own mobile?

Times are a-changing and what was once a novelty is now commonplace.

Of course it depends on the child, but we want to know what age you think is acceptable for a child to have their first mobile phone.

Perhaps you think they're a tool that allows kids more freedom. Or are they just another digital distraction?

So how old do you think they should be before they get one?

When the kid can pay for it themselves, they're so cheap now.

My Nokia 1100 only cost £5! Running costs, about £1/week

    Happy days
