I personally was not a fan of AJ bell due to how i felt they treated me as a customer following changes in their charging structure (I had a tiny old SIPP with them).

That being said you may want to look into IWeb. Long run they are fairly cheap despite the high entrance cost they now apply to open an account. Their staff are also very good and have helped me and family members very swiftly.

looking at the fees, regardless of if its an ISA or a normal dealing account you would be using

AJ Bell Charges for funds: 0.20% capped at £50 per a quarter., their dealing charges for funds are £0.05 lower but their sharedealing is £4.95 more expensive. so for the purposes of this lets ignore the dealing charges as will be marginal in your case

0.20% x (£45k x 40%) = £36 a year in charges

Iweb will be 0% but you have the initial £200 charge, meaning it would take you 5.5 year to break even. But I would also factor in what if your investments hopefully grow (funds in particular), or you decide to put more in each year....

One not to be forgotten is also III if you have multiple people in your household investing pots too as the charge if i remember right covers everyone at the same address.

PS: if your stocks are income generators also be on the look out for the charges on platforms for dividend reinvestment

Hi,
I just wonder if anyone of you aware of this problem...
I've been using the T20 settlement shares dealing facility ie you buy a stock and have 20 days to settle, from X-O.co.uk for a couple of years. My first problem was : I ordered a stock with T 20 but their system set up as T3 which I didn't aware of, and got late charges + interest charges. I had to put it up as I didn't have any proof to say my order was on T20.
Since then, I learnt to use the print screen to copy my every order but have no problem with most of them. Recently, I just found one of the stock was quoted for T2 settlement, I double checked on my order's copy which show T20 so I contact the broker but they insist that they were right, sent their copy of the stock ordered ( which was in their format, not my original online order format ) to prove their point.
Having checked their proof, I can see they may have wrongly transferred my order onto their form with T2 instead of T20, hence I'm adamant to ask for the copy of my original online order..as I reckon that my ( any ) online buy & sell order would be manually transferred onto the computer system which can buy / sell automatically, am I wrong ?
I need to find out how the system work, otherwise it's unfair for investors to be deceived by their brokers, they may just thought that investors have too much money and would not bother to pay for some extra charges and interest charges.. and they don't care for your hard earn money ( Sorry, I need to clarify that this is down to the brokers individuals staff as not everyone is the same ).
Any advice / comment would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, I am disappointed by the introduction of quarterly fees by HSBC for my S&S ISA. Have been looking around and leaning towards AJBell. Just waiting to get a response from HSBC regarding direct in specie transfer of shares I hold as I don't want to incur further charges of having to re-buy them in another platform. Does anyone recommend any other platforms?
