Okay, I went into a frenzy yesterday and was looking for the best Pre-Order deal for the HTC One X. I did not know about o m nia.com or mobilephonechecker.co.uk which would have saved me a lot of time, but there were still so many deals to sort through!

I trawled through a dozen sites, then went to the HTC site to pre-order and clicked through all their links as well.

The result of 4 hours of searching and calculations resulted in the following table. There are a few points to note though.

1. The objective was to find the cheapest, yet BEST VFM deal online. I think I may have hit two birds with one stone here.
2. This deal gives you a free HD Media Link (worth £80) that you can connect to your DLNA tv and watch your phone screen on, the same thing that you can do with Apple mobile products.
3. I’ve found that quidco gives £70 cashback for this particular deal as well, that’s the cherry on top.
4. Free delivery.
5. 3 months of insurance for just £9 then you can cancel (optional)
6. Delivery date is 7th of April 2012.
7. This is for a medium-light user of a mobile phone.

The deal is:
Vodafone Your Plan MI 36 - 12 Months £36.00

You get 300mins, 3,000 texts and 500mb data. £149 for the phone. That’s fine for me.

According to my calculations:

1. A new phone costs £490 from Amazon. There is a £10 variance online though, give or take. This way your total cost over 12 months is just £582 including the upfront cost of £149.

2. This deal gives you £70 cashback.

3. You get the Media Link in 28 days after your phone worth £80.

4. Subtracting 2 & 3 from 1, we get: 582-70-80=£432 for the phone AND the contract for ONE YEAR! If you only consider cash in hand, then £512 for the whole deal! BRILLIANT!

5. It’s not available on the Vodafone site. I’ve checked.

6. Don’t forget to pass on this information to anyone you know who may need it.

7. You’re welcome! :D

free HD Media Link promotion has been withdrawn from phones4u, but they are giving out 2 years 500Mb free WiFi instead.

Who needs that silly WiFi. I'd take the media Link any day! But then again, I need a DLNA tv in order to access its functionality. And mine doesn't have that! Lol. What deal did you get?

Just GoT the phone. No dre beats ear phones, just normal white Htc ear buds. YouTube shows that Europe has the normal white ones and that's VERY irritating!
I expected mine to have dre beats ear buds.

Thanks for letting us know- I'd assumed as the handset offered the beats technology they'd come with the designated earphones, it is strange that they don't. I know someone who was interested in this handset for that reason (not because they wanted the earphones but because they had thought about selling them).

Apparently HTC is stopping beats ear phones from now onwards in normal retail packing. They say that consumers buy thier products not for the ear-phones but for the phone themselves and the ear-phones don't influence the sale. Well... I don't know about that!

I found the best option for me, was to buy the handset outright, then get a SIM only deal from 3.

Worked out at £21 per month and I'm only tied in for 12 months instead of 24. 600 mins, 1gb internet, unlimited texts. Way more that I would ever need so am very happy, as cheapest I could get on contract was £26 per month and 24 month tie in.
