Thats what I was thinking too. otherwise they wouldn't make a profit.
To be fair, if Sky allowed customers to only select individual channels, some of the less-watched channels would simply disappear. Sky Arts has already been reduced from two channels to one in recent years. I'm in favour of a wider choice and I think this should be subsidised in the current manner.

I take your point about the lesser channels. But it applies to the main ones too..

I was wondering whether they would split the PL footy matches across more than 1 channel but it looks like all of their coverage will be on the Sky Sports Premier League channel.

Of course if you want the EFL cup games (EFL games & La Liga too) then you will need the Sky Sports Football channel as well.

The Sky Sports Main Event channel looks to be a waste of time as you can only get it with the full package(?) and it just repeats programmes from the other channels in simulcast anyway.

    From the legal bits: http://www.skysports.com/relaunch

Main Event channel: is a bonus channel showing live content from the other Sky Sports channels at the same time as it is available on such channels. Only available with the Sky Sports Complete Pack.

Bad news for BT YouViewers on BT TV. Under the new package structure they will only be offering Sky Sports Main Event, with a spill-over channel for EPL games.

And the price will be going up by £6.50.
