Our lovely mood sucker has gained her 1st choice uni... 3 xBs :D (thought long and hard about writing that ;) ) although she was a bit upset she didn't have an A, she then got the results from her friends and realised she did darn good :D She's working until 9:30pm then she wants a drink with us... i'm usually heading for bed by 10pm

I moved her school a year in to secondary school as teachers warned me her friends were risky. She chose the school which had just turned academy and non fee paying. She barely spoke to me until she was 14 then said one day at function "when did you get funny?"... i said I always have been but you didn't notice :) smidge of a breakthrough . . her and her sister argued non stop... when DD1 had her baby ... DD2 was furious as her pregnancy upset me.. Hey she's a grudge holder like me :o

    Thank you teachers.... :D

But OMG £42000 worth of debt at 21 years old is horrific.. good job I'll be able to pay our house off and leave it to our daughters as the housing ladder looks bleak from the here and now.

Well done to your Daughter! What's she going to study? I was listing to Martin the other day about how not to think of the student debt as a total sum but as an extra 9% graduate tax payable for 30 years. Apparently v v v few students will every earn enough to pay it off.
  • Thank you.... She wants to be the next prime minister... well at least a political journalist.... that however is open to ideas :D

She's studying politics and literature... she loves books... and has a joined the local labour party.. ermmm power to the people ;)

It is a conundrum, she probably will never pay it all off..... Martin's presentations are reassuring, but if she got the best job....she would have a tough call at approx 4% interest..

  • So we've paid the deposit for uni accommodation , but DD2 is having big wobbles over leaving home :(

she's tearful and negative. I've done the whatever makes you happy, look for a local course , but today i've done the opposite and said off you go (kind of) all other teenagers will be feeling the same ..... So who knows.... It'd be a costly mistake to start something so far away... she said she'd possibly do it until Xmas. Of course I'd rather she loved something from the start. She's had a social life in the last couple of weeks for the first time and earned some money..

  • That's what I was hoping Brizzle. I've told her colleagues tales of the initial fear resolving by xmas and they couldn't wait to get back to uni life.

  • Had my 4th work out this am since joining the gym last Thursday..... it is getting easier.. I'm sooo pleased I bit the bullet and joined. I'm on the corporate package with a 25% reduction at the local leisure centre, refitted about 2 years ago so all top quality equipment. classes, swim cardio and weights.. £22.50 pcm. We walk for miles normally but the local hill climb can be troublesome. yesterday I did not feel short of breath climbing it.... quick results, but a long way to go..

My OP's have slowed this month... have spent from my savings... so kept back rent money this week... just in case :o

Still on course to pay loan off 2nd of September. That will come from my wages, airbnb and an OP.

We didn't spend lots on the wedding Saturday after all... free lift both ways... and I bought 2x G&T's from lid! that morning at 99p each... lots cheaper than hotel prices :) ((and I wore my CS dress and shoes))

    Food and petrol still low
petrol £50 so far... won't need topping up as both off work until next week.

food another £38 in lid! on food... (£14 on alcohol, £15 on gym wear, £6 toiletries and cleaning stuff)
So Food £100 for the month so far

Last ever CB today... money transferred to my account o replace the uni rent... end of an era :)
