First Anniversary Combo Breaker First Post
Woken up this morning by an early morning phone call (7.15am) from DD2 who is at Uni in Essex. Her car had broken down on her way to placement in Southend. Luckily we have a joint AA breakdown policy so she was waiting for them to arrive. Seems that the clutch has gone so car has been towed to her Uni house. We now have to decide whether to buy her a new car or if hubby goes down (over 200 miles) to put a new clutch in this one. It is an old V reg so definitely not worth paying garage prices to replace a clutch:eek: Luckily we also have 'stay mobile' with the AA so she has been given a hire car for 3 days which gives us some breathing space to decide what to do. So she has gone from a 17 year old Ford Fiesta to a 66 reg Nissan Juke. So I will be have palpitations for 3 days hoping that she is very careful in it  Whatever we decide it is more money from the Bank of mum & Dad:eek:

    Good morning all...

The happiest of birthdays to dear AJ x

Lovely to read that Mrs 3 dogs saw the same film as me last night....I do love Morgan Freeman and always think of him as a very God like figure...but now he will hold a little place in my heart for his wonderful interpretation of ET!

mhoc....what beautiful pictures of what will be a day for you all to treasure x

I am waiting in this morning for a company to come and give us a quote for a new conservatory roof...too much damage has been done to the existing one from builders working next door for my liking....I am sure they wont like the quote that is presented to them ...but if they fail to correctly protect adjoining property when working they must expect it....otherwise I guess my neighbours home insurance will have to look at paying out...sticky situation as I do like my neighbour but at the end of it the roof has been damaged.
frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

So we booked an airbandb house in March 2016 - a gobsmacking ammount of money paid up front but the house had sufficient combinations of bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms so it suited our purposes. It was on the newish estate behind the rail museum - eldest child and s-i -l lived on another bit of the estate in a flat when they first got together so we knew the area very well.
Also even run of the mill b and bs or guest houses up there start at £80 a night and worse at the weekend so renting an entire house was a no brainer.
As it turned out the bedroom occupants changed numerous times over the weekend - neighbours must have thought we had set up a pop up brothel :rotfl: - so we didn't have an empty bedroom at all and no one resorted to sleeping on the sofa :)

As we were about to set off we got a call from eldest child, their US friend was flying back in from Paris, homeless for Thursday night and she asked if there was a spare sofa - we had a spare single room so it was very easy for her to stay with us that night and also we had her big case so that made it easy. Plus we were all going out for dinner together on Thursday night.

On the way there we were also tasked with collecting the dress from the dressmakers, a job I really didnt relish doing, far too much responsibility. Satnav insisted we drive through the city, very nerve wrecking and we thought afterwards we should have just gone on the outer ring road to the designer outlet and used the satnav from there - this is the way we got out again.
We also had eldest son and his GF stay that night - GF had been on. a business trip that day, flew back into Brum so it was late when they arrived that night.
Meanwhile OH and I and american met eldest child and s-i-l and the 2 from LA (those 4 had another bandb flat) went out for a drink and we then went for an Indian. The two from LA were s-i-ls friends from uni who went home after graduation but they got married 18 months ago and our 2 went out for the wedding.
Amazingly American and the 2 from LA all knew each others bits of the states, lived, worked, socialised, studied etc so they all hit it off from the start - 3 very excited Americans in an echoey room in the pub - well you can imagine the volume got very loud :rotfl:
We went to our usual Indian restaurant - the bill came to £14 each so eldest child took charge - 4 credit cards and a £20 note :)

Friday was setting up day at the venue - it took 10 of us most of the afternoon to get everything all ready for the big day.
Friday night we all met up in another pub including the bridesmaids, another friend who had flown in from Oz, several up from London and St A including 2 netball friends etc - very packed and busy. Then 26 of us went for rehearsal dinner - 2 long tressel tables in the resturant and the 2 bills must have come to over £600 - everyone paying their own thankfully :)

Friday night we had a bit of a house swap, eldest son and his Gf went to stay at the other apartment with the LA couple.
S-I- l went back home to his parents for the night.
American friend was in a b and b with her friend - she was very coy but we assume there is a long distance friends with benefit situation going on there but no one admitting anything.
Eldest child and one of her bridesmaids stayed with us.
Youngest errant son flew back in on Friday, got the train from Kings Cross and arrived about 9.30 at the house and he went into the single room.

I assumed there would be more partying when we got back to the house but instead there was hair washing, Love Actually DVD and everyone was in bed by 10.30 with tea.

Odd, I just had a quick look at V1king and noticed that I had items in my basket when I logged in including the 5k. I went through and ordered again  (even though in my last orders list it says you cannot re-order this item - and previous attempts of re-ordering the 3k had failed).

Wonders out loud if this will work again...

Interesting. When I try and add previous order to basket it says the points cannot be reordered. But it will let me add it again by doing the product code search.

Wondering out loud with you....Got to be worth a try.

Ive only got a 2000 code but yesterday it kept telling me I didnt have enough in my basket. I had £15 x 2 gc + printing paper.
Just checked again and the note about not having enough in my basket is not there but its not letting me check out :(

    ETA Im now getting Attention:
To qualify for 1 x (code~) you need to spend another £ 27.01.
Please continue shopping or remove this item from your basket before proceeding.

See post #70373 from the lovely Anon. :). And when you product code search for the points change the 2 to a 5.
