i as about to put a boxset of the oxford learning tree books ( biff chip kipper ) on freecycle as would cost too much to post on ebay as well as ebay charges and went on to search for picture to add onto description
when i noticed a link to amazon trade in //sell . i posted it on Monday last week and .i recieved £ 22-60 giftcard on Friday which was way more than i'd have got on ebay

will have a look and see what else i have now ... :)

This is interesting, I've lots of completely unread box sets - did you have to pay postage and if so what's the cheapest way of sending them in?
  • My best sell was a metal biscuit tin in the shape of a custard cream - £25.00! Its funny what people consider to be a collectable! Was gonna just chuck it...

a car manifold, got more for that than i paid for the engine which came with it on (already had a manifold that was ok)

i have some old tax discs but would wonder what would be done with them, think i shall not put them on just incase, unless anyone knows why people buy them. I know people used to take the reg number off with thinners and reuse them but with all the current computer systems don't know if that's why they would buy them.
hi guy`s just wanted to let u know that old tax discs are very collectable! As collectoers of old cars put the correct year of manufacture disc`s on their restored cars to make them look like they did the day they were made/sold!

I was wondering whether I need a personal or business paypal account for eBay and if business account, are there any costs attached to it? I sold a couple of things 3 years ago and received payment on collection. I am think of selling a few things and now using the phone app and there is only PayPal option available

    Thanks

Short answer is no, you do not need a PayPal business account if you are a private individual selling your own personal items. If you are selling items in the course of a business then that would be a different matter.

You do need a PayPal account to sell on eBay as they now insist that you offer PayPal as a payment option (they own PayPal so it's more coffers for them). However, If the item is being collected I always insist on cash on collection and not PayPal even though it is offered as an option. Safer that way.

    regards

    Brian
  • Have spent the last week reading this thread (on and off) and wanted to say thanks to the original poster. It got us motivated to start selling again, and tomorrow night we have 24 listings finishing which are currently sitting at around £270 excl postage. Mostly collectible merchandise from a TV show, so pretty specialised, but we've been lugging it all round from house to house with us for the last 15 years, so it'll be nice to see some cash in the bank instead. :)

My mum cleared out her loft and gave me all my old Sindy dolls from when I was little, Action Girl and loads of clothes.

When I started researching on eBay I found that it was best to put the clothes in outfits, so spent some time doing just that.

The dolls (which must have been about 1970s) sold really well, but the one lot that surprised me was some odd bits and pieces (like stockings, shoes, some oranges and a white vinyl handbag) I had put together as a job lot - it sold for something like £65. I was so intrigued I asked the buyer why they had paid so much and it turned out a little plastic handbag was part of a very rare outfit. When I looked up the outfit I can't remember ever having had it, so goodness know where it came from!

In the end I think I made about £350 from all my old dolls and clothes, which was not to be sniffed at, and I also enjoyed doing the research.
What goes around comes around.....I hope!
