Positive steps for this year, starting a bit late in the day I know.

Budget properly - not just in my head :o done using YNAB
Make a start on an emergency fund - done £650/£1000
Open an ISA - done £100 saved.
Make a start on sorting the £8000 mortgage shortfall - starting next month.
Save for Christmas - starting next month

Don't worry, you're here and that's the main thing. I've never been of the opinion that you should only make a fresh start at the New Year. In fact, I think you're more likely to keep them if you start at other times of the year as it's almost traditional to break New Year's Resolutions. And thanks for mentioning ISAs, you've just reminded me that I need to set one up.

Hello, come in, the more the merrier. I'm glad so many people are finding this thread useful. :) Personally, I tend to strike through things as I do them but if another way would suit you better, use that. It's whatever works best for you.

:)This is a great idea for those times when you have so much to do that you end up doing nothing. So far today I'm watching the tour de france as it travels through all my local places!!

Came a bit unstuck today, didn't get anywhere near dds room, but spent far longer in ds, so not too annoyed about that, good start, definite feeling of satisfaction in striking through!

  • I sooooooooooo need this thread! Especially with my favourite sporting event starting yesterday because I'm perfectly capable of spending 4-5 hours watching the Tour then 3-4 hours reading the news and interviews then wondering why nothing is done! I then "use" my painful leg to excuse myself. There I said it!

    Today I will:
    pre-tour
    1. Clean the kitchen
    2. Get the last of the washing on
    3. Eat some breakfast (always forget if I'm not at work)

    during:
    1. Tackle the 2 weeks worth of ironing (there are 6 of us so it's a pretty epic pile and will probably take all 4 hours
    2. Send children to tidy their rooms AND check it's done properly

    after:
    1. Put all ironing away
    2. Make packed lunches for tomorrow
    3. One hour of studying (timed, alone and with my phone off to avoid distraction ;))

Doing any of this will be infinitely more than I've managed on July weekends in the last decade!

Totally O/T but how amazing was Voight!!!!! I think I was willing every turn of the pedals up those climbs for him! Today will be even better, many more small climbs and it'll really split the field. I'm absolutely hooked (again).

I love that the TV coverage is exactly as it's done every year, not all stats focused but highlights the history of the area and promotes the fact that anyone and their bike can have a go (though obviously not this weekend ;)), there's nothing quite like this commentary in any other sport.

Good morning everyone, I hope it is ok if I join this thread. I was posting on this thread last year and found it very motivating, I have been posting on the DFW thread that a lot of my small steps are not relevant to that thread. This thread will be a great help to me, as I am getting stressed under the pressure of work, studying and family life.

    Small steps for today

Catch up with the laundryWork In Progress
Sort through diary and ensure that all work is scheduledDONE

Make a shopping list and do the weekly online shopDONE
    Put electric in the meterDONE
    Get a quick showerDONE
    Go horse riding with ddDONE
Sort clothes and packed lunches for tomorrowDONE
    Get an early night
