Hello everyone. Welcome to the Weekly Spend Challenge. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in.

On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. The challenge runs from Sunday to Friday so we don't include Saturdays but feel free to change the rules to suit you and include Saturdays or start on a different day.

Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track. We colour code the results as below:

Green - within budget
Red - over budget
Purple - zero spend
Orange - made money over the week

This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever.

Moozie was the founder of this challenge and here is a quote taken from her:

The challenge is about incidental spending and not for stuff that should be budgeted elsewhere such as bills, groceries, debt repayment etc but you decide what to include at the end - this is about changing your habits and improving your recording of your spends more than anything else. Have a great week everyone and keep it low!!! Moozie x"

Good Luck Everyone

    Evening everyone.

I went into town today to start my Xmas shopping and had a small splurge on myself. Will work out the disaster and post it tomorrow. I just wanted to get the new thread up and running.

    Thanks ETO

Well, I kind of went over budget as I got an unbudgeted for (but useful) bargain....

I had a £10 off for spending £25 in Debenhams and happened to be passing with the shop. I picked up a wee trolley case reduced from £100 to £29 and with my tenner off, got it for £19. I travel a lot with work and usually need to buy one or two during the year so it'll be a good investment :)

    Oh, and I picked up 2 dresses a la George....each reduced to £3!! :j

So total spend of £25 against my budget of £7.60 - oops

I have quite a spendy week as I have nights out Saturday and Sunday. Off to work out my budget while having my extra hour in bed :)

    It's payday on Thursday :j:j

I'm not planning on spending anything before then....and then it gets spendy!

I have quite a few nights out and birthdays in November and also treating myself to a proper colour at the hairdresser. I'm getting a bit extra in my pay this month and I've set aside a budget for these "extra" spends.

What I'd like to do is exclude these budgeted spends from this challenge as I already know about them. Does that sound like cheating?

If not, I'll go for £10 this week....if not, it'll be much more :rotfl::rotfl:

I'm interested in your thoughts about my logic - ta :A

Well it was a red week for me last week - I spent £16.25/£10 . Mainly due to buying lunch at work, naughty naughty.

This week looks a bit better as i've sold a top and blazer on e3ay for £20. As my normal budget is £10 a week i'm going for a target of making £10 if that makes sense, thanks ETO!
