Vodafone broadband - good, bad?

Hi all,

i am an existing Vodafone mobile customer and have just received an offer for £20 pm for Fibre38 plus landline.

This sounds like a cracking offer,,almost too good to be true.

I thought id google and i am reading some sorry tales of failed switchovers, poor customer service and people ringing round and no one answering etc etc.

Can anyone tell me about their experiences with vodafone BB good and bad ?

Thanks
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

Horses for courses. Big list of unsatisfied customers at broadband.co.uk and likewise for the mobile network. But bear in mind more people will write about the bad experiences than the good. After all you're instantly drawn to "stay away from Vodafone!" posts than "Vodafone are the best thing since sliced bread!" type posts.
  • I switched FROM BT to Vodafone broadband about 4 months ago and so far everything has been fine. The switch went very smoothly and I've had no issues at all with speed.

I'd recommend them with my experience at present. I'm on the 76 package.

Lots of people have had problems with Vodafone broadband. Their customer services are appalling. I was transferred between five departments once, and was still on hold two hours later at which time they cut me off.

They don't reply to emails. No one on their live chat can do anything other than take you through a long security checking process before telling you to phone customer services.

Even when I raised official complaints and emailed the CEO, I was ignored.

Shortly after signing up, they wrote to me to let me know that, as part of the move from Sky to Vodafone, I would be disconnected for nearly two weeks.

I couldn't even speak to anyone to cancel my order. I had to get BT to use their procedure for dealing with line-slamming fraud and cancel the direct debit.

I've read many other reports from customers complaining that Vodafone completely ignore them. As a company that specialises in "communication", you've really got to be concerned when they can't even return an email or phone call, and when you call, they can't find someone for you to speak to.

I switched last October to their highest speed fibre, at £24 per month. On the plus side, the connection has been reliable, and setting up is easy. For this price, it's probably my best high-speed option. However, a number of niggles:

    1. Vodafone will give a guaranteed minimum speed, which you can check before signing up. In my case, they've spent over two months, with me chasing again and again, trying to meet that guarantee, but have failed. In fairness, they replaced both my socket and router, and have certainly got much closer; but it's still 10% less. They will let me cancel the contract without charge for failing to meet the guarantee, but it's been a hassle getting to this stage - I'll probably stick with them.
    2. The support's live text chat is friendly but useless, some of the technical advice has been plain ridiculous! It's not UK based, as far as I can tell.
    3. The telephone support is better, but it can take ages to get through - I can't tell you how much time I've spent on calls to them.
    4. Surprisingly, caller ID is not part of the standard package - I've not come across this before. So, now I'm expected to pay more each month to see who's calling.

Bt charge for it although they currently have a sign up for free offer for 12 months deal I think.

I think it's about 50/50 who charges and who doesn't post office and sky don't.plusnet and virgin do
From October it should/ might be free from everyone https://www.thinkbroadband.com/news/7826-ofcom-moves-to-ban-charging-for-caller-display-options-in-2018
But we all know if it's advertised as free from sky or post office etc the cost is factored in to the final price

I am tempted to go with this.
My sky BB and line rental minimum period is up in around 2 weeks, it will then cost £30 per month, up from £18.99 i was paying. Having a long line we are restricted to 5mbs down so £30 per month for basic low BB speeds does not seem value anymore compared to some fibre deals.
One thing though is the sky bb has been very solid.
