Options
Hi,

Not sure if the title really makes sense but will try and explain myself!

Need a cheque for 97p from a person in Ireland and I will pay it into my halifax current account ... anyone know what the exchange rate is at halifax for cheques being paid in so I can tell person in ireland the amount in euros?

Cheers

EJ

97p?! Are you joking? Forget about this.I am not expert, but AFAIK most of banks have fixed charge for deposing foreign currency cheques - this is in addition to poor exchange rate.

    P.S. I assume that 97p=£0.97

I don't think Halifax charge a fee if the cheque is under £30 in the sterling equivalent, but is it really worth it for 97p?????? Also you have to wait up to 28 days for it to clear.

yes, if you take it into the branch you will not be informed - they have to send the cheque off, which can take up to 28 days to be cashed

you will receive a letter saying what the conversion is
