Thats the problem at the moment, Around a year and a hald ago I tried for an internal transfer (From The Pension service) but as the M.O.D refused to take staff transfers in from other departments to preserve their current headcount, other departmenst copied it and no one was willing to accept staff transfers.

(Which dept are you with ?? JC+,CSA ?)

CSA may be one you could get away with as they are taking on a lot of staff at the moment (moving entire depts from other areas)
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.

hi just been taken in and crushed by the inland revenue! single parent,3 kids, 2 disabled, work part-time self-employed, just been told i "ticked" a box to say i get the higher rate of care componet for myself, and they have been paying me since 2004!! i cant believe it, i never intentially ticked any box, and they still gave me the extra money, without telling me or asking for evidedance of my change of circumstances, which i would of realised were none and not entitled to the extra money! but no ,no letter, no one contacted me, nothing. now they want £5,900 + interest back from me. i am at my wits end cut my money by over £500 per month, i am in debt by £35,000. and am struggling to pay anything, please can anyone advise or help me, so grateful! xx

    Hi Urban spirit

It doesn't sound like your company are being very helpful really. My best advice is to put everything in writing to your Head of department detailing what is stressfull about the place you are being transfered to and why you would like to transfer to the other dep

Also copy your letter to Head of HR, if you don't get a response keep writing to HR.

I think your company has a duty to relocate you on your health grounds, but you can't dictate as to where that will be. If you are being threatened into/out of work is there anyone else this is happening to? Can you get together, to complain, this would give you more power

    Good luck

steph 8989, sorry I can't help you, but I think it may be best if you start your own thread with this and then more people will see it.

Thanks for all you help everyone.

Quick update - have spoken to work and advised of threats etc and they are going back to the business to decide what to do.

Quite which business theyre going back to i'm not sure.

Theyve also said this could be frustration of contract. I think its when they employ someone for a job that they can no longer do, but i'm not an employment law expert.

    Not heard anything yet.

Any part time working from home jobs anyone can suggest???:D

    Further (downhearted) update.

The result of work going back to the business is I have to either take this job in the violent place or go back to my current location where the travelling is too much for me and head of office harrasses and sacks disabled staff.

Both will make me ill. I'm supposed to give a decision in the next day or two.

Union said "there are thousands of people losing jobs, and youre refusing these" - this is the same person who said I couldnt take the first job offered as it goes against my medical evidence.

Some of the union do not like to be seen going against management. Every ridiculous request from my managers has been adhered to despite my protests.
It was left at - i'll get a phone call within the next week to attend one of the two offices. Done deal.

What will it achieve moving me from one job that makes my health worse to another that does the same? The result for both will be me being off work ill again, and as advised, getting sacked.

Ive been to DRC whohave said its a cut-and-dried case of discrimination, union should be fighting.

Any thoughts on where I can go for help and advice? Or where I go from here??
YOur help would be much appreciated. Many thanks.

Which union are you a member (i'm guessing PCS or UNISON)?
Contact your branch secretary and ask for an experienced steward to be assigned as a matter of urgency. You can also advise that you are unhappy with the representation you have recieved so far and wish an investigation into the handling of the case. You can also ask the branch to involve a regional officer (they should do this as a matter of course at this point) as you more or less have a gun pointed at your head by management.
    Don’t be a can’t, be a can.

Thanks for that ohreally, much appreciated. I'm with pcs. Can I do that?

The rep dealing with me is experienced, and is my second one.
The first kept repeating "I believe your manager has a genuine concern for your welfare" when problems with manager arose, even though manager has a string of harrassment/bullying and discrimination complaints against manager. That meant he didnt challenge them though.

If I go back to union will they just think i'm a serial complainer?? My rep will also kick off (gets angry when challenged).

    .

Are they supposed to involve a regional officer at this point?? Did not know that at all. Spot on, the gun is to my head and theyre asking me to pull the trigger.
Do you know what the regional officers role in this would be? I'm not sure what one does.

Lots of questions - sorry. Nobodys mentioned this before.
