People like little fish too. If I go to a plant event, I may look all over the big stands, but it's usually the small stalls with more unusual stuff that I buy from.
Agreed. Lots of shiney new discount stuff might actually bring out the charm and quality of the real deal stuff

Think it's going to happen soon. After half term. Especially since a local breeder who has won a lot of prizes is giving up his aracauna trio and my other half, always reluctant to commit to any wildstock, (whoops, interesting Freudian slip there), loves the idea of rainbow eggs....
I always wanted a breeding flock producing rainbow eggs but in sufficient numbers to cover its costs. It isn't going to happen here though. Good luck!

Watch out for the one on the left, definitely the ringleader.

Just had the first asparagus of the year, about 3 weeks late

I'm not sure. I think second from the right might be the one that jumps into the orchard, but as there are 19 of them, I'd be hard pressed to be really certain in an identity parade!

It's just the one that jumps in. She only started doing it after I mowed the grass, so I think it's hay she's after. Didn't seem to do any damage, so today I left her and she jumped out again later.

A hawk almost took our blackbird right in front of us last week, but missed. However, the blackbird continues to live dangerously. He follows us wherever we're doing work, having realised that we expose more worms and grubs than he can find otherwise. Strimmers and mowers don't bother him. The trouble is, our aged moggy, Daisy, is sometimes sitting only a couple of feet away. Bless her, she's reacted calmly, perhaps thinking he's another one of our 'hens.' She usually reacts correctly to "No!"

It's when we are not there that there might be trouble. This is a cat which, years ago, used to leap from the garage roof to intercept swifts.
