Absolutely. It's amazing what you can do with your wages if there is a plan. I particularly love seeing what we've achieved in the time we've had. We have also saved for two holidays and the spending money we will need for that and paid off a couple of CCs.

Monthly mortgage update...
July=£151,118
Reduced by £967 (£400 OP)
We have knocked another month off bringing our end date to April 2033 (was October 2033 back in October 2014 and was September 2042 back in 2012!).
If I can find an extra just over £150 this month we will be out of the £150s and into the £140s! I'm very tempted to try!

Been a very busy day today. I ended the day on a mse note by inventorying the freezer. I've done it a couple of time since starting my diary and find it very useful. We have a couple of weeks worth of meals in there and puds! We need to run the stores down.
I'm going to try post every couple of days on here, I definitely see a link between posting and being better with money! I'd love to be in a position to move next year.

Brilliant debt busting CT. I am definitely more focused when on here reading and posting. I had a break last year whilst submerged in re-training and felt more comfortable when I was back. That's been reflected in my debt busting too!Mar 2024 - part 1 - £31,656 part 2 - £25,019 Total - £56,675 44 months to go!0

I'm doing some research today on mortgages. We want to move next year and Martins advice is to settle debt month before because lenders will look at outgoing in the previous month to determine affordability...sooooo new plan half of our savings each month will go to CC and half to emergency fund so we will have no outgoing except bills.
I wonder should we not OP our mortgage in the month leading up? Has anyone been in this situation recently? We aren't moving until spring/summer but want to be organised and do the best we can.

MSE morning so far. I've changed life insurance providers and have gone from £29 a month to £13. Saving £192 a year. All in aid of trying to reduce our monthly outgoing to improve our mortgage situation next year.
To do list this week:
-Change home insurance which is also currently at just under £30.
-Meal plan- and stick to it!

Reapplied for premium bond log in details. DH has started using his again, he tells me he is saving for my 30th and know he can't spend it that way. He has never been very good at keeping secrets. I'm pretty confident I know what he wants to surprise me with because he can't help but hint! Anyway him using his has reminded me I need to keep adding to them to build that up. Maybe a way of keeping the money I'm saving for stamp duty and legal fees? Who knows. I currently have £225 in there (£25 winnings) so not moving far with that!
Current sitauation:
£225 Premium bonds
£100 Funding circle
£500 Emergency fund
-£1390 Credit card
=-£565
Let's see how I can change that in the coming weeks and months.Mortgage [STRIKE]£269,000[/STRIKE] £258,987 / MF date [STRIKE]June'49[/STRIKE] June'49

Good work :-) you are doing so well. Can you pay insurances etc annually to save if they charge interest for monthly repayment. I'm changing to annually as they come up for renewal.
Ps what are you thinking you're getting0
