Cancel Experian account?

Have just used the advice in the article on credit ratings to receive a free report from Experian - signing up for a free 30 day trial, giving direct debit details. Unfortunately, I have now got stuck when trying to cancel the account - the money saving article advises that this should be done immediately so it doesn't get forgotten - but I can't find a way of doing this online on the Experian website. If anyone else has done this and knows how to go about cancelling, I'd really appreciate your advice. Otherwise, guess I'll have to wait while Monday and phone them to cancel?

    I took the free trail with Equifax and they only let you cancel by phone, for security apparently. So maybe Experian is the same. Why not subscride to Martins' Tart alert so you won't forget to cancel :-)

    You just send a mail to customer services and advise you want to cancel your account they will send you a mail the next day advising its canceled.

    DONT pay for anything like a credit score as they will charge you each month.
    If it doesnt pay rent sell it.

    Doesn't the tart alert give you 6 weeks notice? That would mean you'd have to set the tart alert 2-3 weeks before you applied for the 30-day Experian free trial.

    Much better, in my opinion, to read the T&C's before you tick the box to say you've read them. The cancellation procedure is detailed in section 7C I believe.

    Thanks to all who replied to my question. Have been back and checked and the cancellation instructions are indeed in the t+c's, section 7c - should have checked, as was pointed out. Will phone up and cancel tomorrow, and cancel dd at bank as well.

    I emailed customer services and they cancelled, no questions asked
    I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.

    Does your account close immediately?? I called 2 weeks ago and they confirmed it cancelled over fone but I can still login and view my report?? I emailed again the other day, got a reply with the 'email number' thingy, but no reply from them confirming the account closure yet.... bit worried Im gonna get charged now!!

    You do need to phone them to cancel the free 30 day trial, the freephone number is 0800 6569000 lines open,

    Mon-Fri 0900-1800
    Sat 0900-1300
    Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition
