There seems to be a trend on here recently of Financial Services "experts" who clearly don't have a clue about the industry they work in.

It's hilarious isn't it? It's like one of the IFAs who post here coming on and asking what they should do for their pension.

If you read her other posts, I think you're being very hard on the OP. Her business is failing, she is bringing up a child with, apparently, no help from the father, and her situation was, and perhaps still is, pretty desperate.

OP, for the future, never give out your card details unless you are absolutely certain that the site is kosher.

This may help too - after the paragraph in which it tells you to email, it says this

If You wish to cancel your application, You must write to us. In this event We will refund your fee within 7 working days of the date on which We receive your written request to cancel your application. Any such requests should be made to: MoneyWarehouse, Metropolitan House Station Road, Cheadle Hulme, Cheadle, Cheshire, United Kingdom SK8 7AZ.

    I suggest doing both.

I agree that people really shouldn't enter their card details on line on these sort of sites but the frequency that these card details then get passed on to other related companies who then start taking fees as they feel like it is really quite worrying.

Isn't it possible that as the OP didn't go through with the loan they didn't expect to be charged?!?! It's so disheartening to read comments where people are negative to the OP when all they're doing is asking for advice!

With the majority of these companies, if they find you a loan (even with a PDL) then you are liable for the charge even if you don't take the loan up.

About a year ago, I was desperate for a loan - desperate enough to try all the websites I could find. I didn't realise that loans for poor credit (and mine was nowhere near as bad as some - no defaults at all, nothing worse than one month late payment) do not exist any more. All I got was an endless stream of emails and texts offering me payday loans and guarantor loans. A small percentage looked as if they were from actual lenders other than payday / guarantor lenders, but by the time I had been bombarded with the brokers, I was beginning to realise that those appearing to be lenders were just brokers cleverly disguising themselves until the last minute.

To be fair, in all those emails and websites, I never found even one that didn't make it perfectly clear that a broker fee would be payable. I never entered my card details anywhere except, eventually, on Wonga's website, and so I was never debited with anything I did not expect.

I find it hard to believe that there are websites around that really do not make it clear they are taking your money. They do, after all, have to maintain certain standards. Every time anyone here has specified the website used, it has been perfectly clear to me that payment is involved.

OP - I for one would be genuinely interested to know which site you went to originally, and on which site you entered your card details.

Hi. You asked the other person who they applied with well I've did the same thing yesterday the company is "peachy"don't know if that's the same one as the other person but I've had the same amount taken out if my bank account. I know I'm stupid for giving my bank details and could kick myself. But on the small print it says they will not pass your details onto anyone else. Then next thing you know I've had about 80 e-mails. 8 phone calls. I'm never going to apply again for anything.
But what I thought was funny is that they actually asked for all bank details acc no, card no, sort code, security no, everything. Again more fool me for giving it out. I'm just about to report them to watchdog. So people can be warned about them. I'm going to phone the bank now, but I'm glad I've got a new card to use with different security code so I'm just about to activate that too. What a nightmare. But I'm an idiot for giving my details out. But I know what I've done and I'm on top of keeping an eye on my bank account. Some people do not bother and wouldn't realise that money is or has been taken out if their account. Anyway just wanted to tell you that. So it's "peachy"

Is that "peachy" as in peachy[dot]co[dot]uk? And the money you had deducted was by mwsf?

Peachy Loans claim to be a direct lender rather than a broker - so it is surprising that they are openly giving your details to brokers. Their Privacy Policy does say that they might "sell your data (or otherwise pass it on) to selected third parties", but I don't know whether they have an opt out in their sign-up process.

If the money was deducted by mwsf (who appear to have no connection to Peachy Loans), then I would be making a complaint to the ICO for a breach of the DPA if I was you - as there is no way they should be selling on your bank account details.

I applied for a payday loan, then decided it wasn't a good idea, as I would be better just selling some stuff on ebay to cover my outgoings. I applied via what seemed a quite reputable firm, but they have handed my card details onto a firm called

mwsf.co.uk, who are basically, these people :

EQI Independent Ltd trading as Moneywarehouse PO BOX 290, Cheadle, Cheshire

Anyway they have basically stolen 36.31 from my account today, meaning I can't go shopping (yes sad and broke I know) and my bank the Natwest, just couldn't care less.

Anyone have any input, or can help ? Thanks
I am in the lucky position that any loans I took out in the past have always been direct with high st lenders. What I find worrying is the number of people who come on here, after they have been researching a loan, and have put their card details on this site and that site. Why if you are borrowing money would anyone need your card details. All that is required for people to put money in your account is a sort code and account number...So WHY do people input their card details. Do they not stop and think-uhm wonder why they want these details for....
I know we may not agree with what these companies are doing, but if people just go around putting in their details left right and centre, surely stupidity or naiveity in the extreme on those peoples accounts.
