I will need to travel from London to places like Yorkshire, Devon etc having no car. What is the cheapest way of doing it? British railways does not seem to be the one. National Express? What else?

If you book well ahead and tie yourself to specific trains you can travel very cheaply. If you are eligible for a railcard it can be cheaper still.0

£1 one way car hire. May not always suit your schedule but it can be an option.0 -
I used to hitch hike when I had no money.
I still pick up hitch hikers now. Not that they are as common as they used to be.0 -
You say you don't have a car but do you drive? Can you hire one. How about car share? https://www.carshare.comLife is like a bath, the longer you are in it the more wrinkly you become.0
