Esa . ex moving back in

Hi everyone hope this is in the right place my first time posting !
OK so I'm on esa support group plus I get DLA . My children's dad is moving back in as I'm unable to cope on my own . He is going to give up his job and care for me full time . Can anyone advise on who I need to contact to tell them he's moving back in .where would I stand regarding esa and would he claim carers allowance ? I don't want him to move in until its all sorted . Thank you

Are you in reciept of contributions or income-related ESA.
(If you were migrated from IB, you're on contributions).

Income-based IB is affected by a partners earnings or savings - and will usually be eliminated by a working partner.
    DLA is unaffected.
He may be able to claim CA if he earns under 100/week or so.

If you are going to be living as a couple any income related benefits will be affected. If he is moving in purely to act as carer and can show that there is no other connection between you things may be different. You definitely need to speak to an advisor.
  • Thank you for your reply . No we will be living
As a couple . Thank you I will call esa tomorrow .

If he is entitled to Carers Allowance owing to your DLA award, he should then be able claim Income Support as a carer for the family. Unless this has recently changed.

This will passport you to HB and CTRS if applicable.

You will to notify the DWP that he is moving in and then he will need to claim the relevant benefits.

You will also need to notify the local council for council tax purposes and any benefits you are receiving from them.
