As I said in other thread

I think the spot ones change colour, the main main drawback (actually a huge drawback) is that they rely on YOU to see them change colour and take immediate action it doesn't help you if your in bed at the time overcome with the carbon monoxide for your sake get a proper one that has a audible tone, for the sake of £20+. I think Asda have first alert for £15. Also the cheap ones dont last long, a battery one will last 5 years

Even with audible one it advices to have more than one in a house, or have the one situated close to the bedrooms or where it can easily be heard. Mine is in the landing and has a LCD display on it, made by kiddee.

Also dont forget some fire brigades will supply a free smoke alarm if you are vulnerable and or on benefits dont take that risk get one and a smoke alarm before Winter sets in, if you have one already have one check the batteries, it doesn't cost much for a pp3 battery
  • Aldi has the kidde ones with the LCD thingy on it that shows you exact levels of CO for £20 at the moment (their £30 in argos) this seems better than the non lcd ones as you can get an idea of if you've got excess CO (but under the alarm threshold) in my opinion. I'm gonna go buy one today.

But ordering this one is obviously gonna be good for secondry or thirdly purposes, and is better than nothing.
Money, Money, Money ..... Banks/Casinos/Bookies give me all you money its a poor mans world....

Yes Aldi did have them. I got mine of Ebay for £22 inc postage. Very easy to fit, just 3 screws.

Can I just enquire whether anybody who validly applied for this deal actually got their CO detector? So far, I cannot track down anyone who has received theirs.

I have filled this in, as NorthernGas should abide by their promises. I suggest anybody else who feels cheated should do likewise.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
