Forces Help to Buy (FHTB) and The Goverment Help to Buy Equity Scheme

Apologies I didn't know which board I should post in either here or mortgages but I felt you guys over here would know more about this and maybe have some experience.

Does anyone know if you can use the Forces Help to Buy Scheme with the Government Help to Buy equity Scheme?

I have found some places that say yes you can some that say your can't. On the RAFF website it says you can but I saw on Nationwide that they don't accept this.

Has anyone used both to purchase a house? If so who is your provider and was it straight forward?

Many thanks in advance

  • In a roundabout way, yes. Used equity from house sale (with around £3k LSAP owing) and used govt help to buy.

Went with Nationwide, told the mortgage broker and showed them the payslips.

It is judged more on affordability - work out your take home pay after FHTB has been deducted and use this as your net salary for any affordability calculations.
