150k inheritance

Advice please we plan to use money to buy bigger property timescale for move by the end next year hopefully. Best place to keep money for time being and get some interest if that's possible. Will likely be a joint account. Already have accounts with Halifax and Santander small amounts in each. Thank you

Have a look on company websites to see what's on offer, but interest rates have been dropped by some and others are likely to follow.

NS&I are guaranteed for the full amount, and pay up to 1% AER.

Accounts listed here pay larger rates on comparatively small amounts. A couple can get more by having an account in their sole name each, plus a joint account.

  • It depends how much time and effort you want to put into maximising interest.

If you deposit all the money in one account you will get a relatively low rate of interest compared to if you split the money across multiple sole and joint accounts.
