from those logs, MBAM would not have had to reboot the pc, but ADWCleaner would...

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

Pennypincher2013, follow this video and install and configure the software on your pc as per video.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RnPtuTbqzd4

often a reported 2/53 in virus total is often a false positive. 20/52 is most likely a problem

Now from the above video, using the 2:00 minute mark as a reference point, press the "process" title to sort this alphabetically, maximize the page, move the scroll bar on the left to the very top, capture the page by pressing Control+alt+Print Scrn and paste into mspaint and save as penny01.jpg, then move the scroll bar down until you have all new entries on your screen and continue to process again till you have screen shotted the whole page.

Put picture up onto the web via imagur. or tiny pic (largest pic size possible), and paste those pics into a new post entry.

These links are the screenshots. They are in order. There's a few that say 'The system cannot find the specified file.' I am worried because I have logged into sensitive information accounts since having this slow problem.

p.s. I am in standard account. Do I have to be in admin account or does it not matter?

Jumping into this thread (experts will be along soon) its difficult to say what caused your problem. You've got lots of "stuff" running on your computer - I'm the last one to say you should remove all of it but could run the following to give you a list of "probably not needed" programs:-
    https://www.pcdecrapifier.com/

Suspicious to me:- I'd remove WildTangent games and Dragon Assistant (unless you use it all the time of-course); I'd also remove Avira, not because its a certain problem, but because you've got lots of Avira modules running like VPN and Speedup -which you may have installed deliberately - but the Speedup part may have been "doing its thing" when everything went on a go slow. Try a different AV for a while (e.g. MS or Bitdefender). NB. make sure have backups before doing any playing.
If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.
  • I have never used WildTangent games and Dragon Assistant. They came with the laptop. Never bothered with them and had forgotten all about them. I think the Avira VPN and Speedup were part of anothe Avira thing I downloaded.
How does the speedup make the computer go slower? That's a bit of a contradiction lol!

besides the ones you have already discovered, my hit list to query or uninstall

apple mDNSresponder, uninstall the apple stuff. it has given problems in the past. install it later again if you must

Avira? you bought it? Yours looks different then my free one?
Omnipass, an enterprise Password Management, possibly by HP? are you using this????
    youcam? are you using this????
    Power2GoExpress? are you using this????
Adobe elements? are you using this????
    You have a hp printer?
You are running malwarebytes and avira?
Google crash handler - look here and stop it http://www.technixupdate.com/stop-and-remove-googlecrashhandler-exe-from-running-on-your-computer/
  • Didn't know I had apple stuff on my laptop.
Never bought Avira. It is free.
    Never heard of Omnipass.
Have used youcam and power2goexpress a couple of times in my laptops life.
I do have a HP printer.
I am running malware bytes and Avira.
Will have a look at google crash handler. I've never heard of it before.
Do you think my laptop is safe to use? I have important sensitive information things to do by the end of today. Don't really want to use the library computer for it.

    VFvthIJ.jpg

just uninstall the apple stuff (bonjour), and you have already done what grumpy crab said?

Once done come back with some more screenshots of process explorer running as Admin, so we can check stuff again.

Also download and run this, to make sure you drive is not on its way out http://www.passmark.com/products/diskcheckup.htm

As long as you have your important files backed up i see no reason to stop using this device.
From your description, and the fact you have found no malware, it kind of points to either a freak one off, or the hard drive failing ..

It might be worth running checkdisk to check for errors and bad sectors
. From elevated command prompt type chkdsk /r and press enter

If the issue happens again, it will be useful for anyone diagnosing the issue to know what processes were taking cpu cycles.
Next time (if) it happens, open task manager, click the processes tab and order them by CPU.
Let us know what is at the top and what % cpu it is using
