    Cant believe house hasn't been snapped up. But then there are 2 lovely ones near me that haven't moved. One was over priced I think and they have now dropped it - but the other one - lovely and just not sure why no interest. Odd times
    Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

    In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

    The market IS slow here.
    House jobs planned for today. The place is a pit after a week of the childrens' tender minstrations!

    Must be awful to have that stalemate going on :( my sales (one every 10 - 11 years, so not a massive turnover) have been quick to find a purchaser, and then really slow to actually complete :( I've been wondering about selling *this* house to downsize to a flat, but decided not to, I don't want the work with my current energy levels. Hearing what its like for you, even though its a different part of the country, confirms that thats the right decision for me.

    Sounds like the right thing, KC.

    We face three problems
    the price bracket
    the average salary here
    the house is too big for the garden.

    I know we could drop the price 50k and sell tomorrow, but what would be the point?

    We had the same problem, but gave up trying to sell.

    Ours is too pricey for a terrace but in a lovely spot.
    We bought at the height off the boom, then had to re-mortgage for hubby :(
    Not appreciated in value in 11 years :(
    Is a niche market, no parking and a right of way in front terrace.

    Does that price drop mean you couldn't buy the next place?

    Can you buy the bit of land at the edge of your back garden to increase its size and put them in balance more? My brother actually did this recently, he's only in a terraced house at the edge of a village, but he backs onto fields, and he found out that the land at the bottom of his garden was only leased from the farmer, not included in the sale! So he found a bit of extra money and went for it. Not to sell, but to confirm ownership of his veggies :D

    Its a kind of catch 22, KC. No one seriously entertains an offer from someone with no buyer and so we wouldn't know until it was too late IYSWIM?

    Going back decades part of our neighbour's garden DID belong to our house.

    We have asked nicely should they ever want to sell it back...asking more than once would be pushy and wrong I think.
