I've been offered the chance to earn an extra £1,750 from a medical sleep study (no medicines, just how different sleep patterns/food patterns affect each other). It represents a massive 25% of our total CC debt.
However it requires me to have ZERO contact with the wife and 6 month baby for 2 periods of 6 days ( I have to spend 12 days total in a room with no windows where I can't know the time hence I can't call/contact the family).

We cannot decide if I should do this or not. It requires taking 8 days of holiday as well from work (the lab studies are over the weekend so only 4 work days each). The biggest issue is the lack of contact.

Any one got any suggestions if I should or shouldn't? Would you do it?

    thanks

Not sure to be honest. The money sounds very tempting but 2 periods of 6 days with no contact sounds alot TBH. It's a difficult one. On the other hand it's only 12 days total time with no contact for over1.5k...
    I'm not really helping am I... :o

    go for it.

it will be 12 days that aren't great for either of you - BUT you'd be that much closer to the debt free date.

oooh and good luck. If you don't do it give them my number?????

Evening all! Just some more ebay sales for myself, work's been rather busy and I'm ending up so tired in the evenings to attempt anything new, slap on the wrist for me! No %s to add yet though as I've not paid it towards the CC yet, waiting for a few more payments and have paid off my ebay fees.

Going to sit down and write up my aims for next week in my notebook. I like my lists and my money-week starts on a Friday so just now seems like a good time to do it.

Not officially doing this, but I have reached 2%...well, 2.5% technically! Should get to 3% when some TopCashBack comes through. Aiming for 1% a month. Have also set myself numerical targets to break it down even further eg get balance under the next £500.

Well I've just worked out, once we are totally debt free (bar the mortgage) we will be £600 a month better off

That is a lot of money to be 'throwing away', more than our mortgage!

We just did the same and when our debt is gone we will have £500 left over each month just from my Husband's wages. I am also working at the moment, so it's really motivating to see how much more disposable income we will have when the debt is GONE!!

It's also reassuring to see that we can manage on just DH's salary when the banks are paid back as we're hoping to start a family ASAP and I will be staying at home...now all we have to do is actually pay it off :)
